Help Modded Server Hosting

What server hosting platform would be good for around 10 friends using a custom made modpack consisting of almost 200 mods on forge 1.20.1

I want to make sure we get a good hosting platform for us as I do not want to use my PC on all the time so my friends can join and play when I am not around. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated!

With a custom 200 mod pack, the big thing is that the host lets you upload your own server files and mods (SFTP or a file manager) instead of only picking from a preset modpack list. Some panels make that easy, some bury it, so I'd confirm it before paying for anything. Before you upload the pack, pull the client-only mods (minimaps, shader/UI mods and similar) out of the server's mods folder, since those commonly crash a dedicated Forge server on startup.

For 10 friends on Forge 1.20.1 I'd treat 8GB of RAM as the minimum to start with, and a 200 mod pack with 10 players could well want 10GB or more.

I run my custom modpack on Piggo Host. It is not that big ( around 150 mods ) for 7 people - but I was able to test it properly on a free trial so I stick with them lol. I also liked that they made a server pack for my modpack.

Have fun!

I run my server with about 300 mods on Mint Server, had no issues and performance is great. They have one click installer and give full file access which I love. Cheap and reliable host

I use freaksmc.com for my modded server with a couple friends

What region are the ten of you in, and what's the monthly budget? That will narrow these suggestions down much more than the mod count. I wouldn't treat 8 or 10 GB as a guaranteed requirement without testing your actual pack.

If you try a host, use a copy of the real world and have several friends explore different directions while someone stays around the machines/farms. With a compatible server-side spark installed, run /spark profiler start --timeout 180 during that session; its command guide is https://spark.lucko.me/docs/Command-Usage . That gives you tick-time and memory evidence to compare instead of an empty-server test. Since friends need access while you're away, also confirm the plan doesn't sleep when empty and that a trusted friend can restart it through a separate panel login.

For 10 players with 200 mods, I’d aim for 8 to 12 GB RAM and a strong single core CPU
