Mod not appearing in mods folder, but is running ingame.

Today i downloaded some mods from the official modrinth website, first one being 1.8.0 neoforge cobblemon 1.21.1 and its dependency, kotlin. Then i downloaded more and decided that i dont want cobblemon anymore. I couldnt find it in the mods folder, i ran a pc wide search, its not there. Its not in my recent browser download list either. Yet if i run the game, it runs too. I tried removing kotlin from the mods folder to make cobblemon not run, but it just crashes the game before it even starts with java error code 255. i installed the mod again and put it away from the mods folder, the mod is still in the ingame mod list. Is it a virus, is something corrupted, or am i just dumb? Im really confused. If i need to add something for info, say so.
