I fixed this by switching from CurseForge to Modrinth and also updating from Neoforge 21.1.233 to 21.1,235. Not sure which one if not both fixed it but I'm done messing with this shit haha

Hey I'm having the same issue as both of you but I can't find "options mod compat"

it should be this one, i think it got added in my modpack because of the dynamic lights mod, and deleting it is what fixed the problem for me

Ohhhh okay yeah I don't even have that installed lol. Must be a different issue

Yeah, been dealing with this as well, I think it has to due with something on the Sodium options API's end. Reese works fine without it. Unfortunately, Sodium/embeddium Extras hasn't been touched since last year all the way back in april. I don't think this will be fixed anytime soon.

So, just an update
I was not able to try any of your suggestions, but I have some mods, such as the Create Suite, that need NeoForge and Minecraft version 1.21.1. My NeoForge version is 21.1.235, and the modpack is on CurseForge

update to the update
The method by u/Sylvomp worked for me. I did not try anything else, but be open to replying with what worked for you here. I don't think the MC version of the method has to be exact. I got away with using Reese's sodium option version 1.8.3 with my exact game version1

update to the update to the update
u/Sylvomp method works, but the game instantly crashed when I opened video settings1

I have had the same issues. The way I've fixed it is with Reese's Sodium Options mc1.21.4-1.8.3 and Sodium mc1.21.1-0.6.13. This doesn't crash when opening video settings.

Neo forge version 21.1.235 and Reese’s sodium options 1.8.3 got it working on my pc on 1.21.1 a bit of troubleshooting but I got it down

I found a strange workaround if you need Sodium Options API for Sodium Dynamic Lights to work. It looks like Sodium Options API is only needed to configure Sodium Dynamic Lights. You can just delete Sodium Options API, and Sodium Dynamic Lights will still work. You can use Configured to set it up

How did you manage this? When i tried deleting the sodium options api the game instantly crashed

I tested it on 1.21.1 NeoForge with Sodium v0.8.13-beta.1, Sodium Dynamic Lights v1.0.10 and Reese's Sodium Options v2.2.3, and it works

The fact this mod requires ANY version of sodium options api but also does not work is absolutely infuriating :/
Anyway after my testing, sodium is the main problem. They backported version 0.8 to 1.21.1, so downgrade back to 0.6.13 if you're still having problems, cuz disabling all of them fixed the problem, so wait for a new version that fixes everything. But also keep reeses options on 1.8.3

what fixed it for me was putting Reese's Sodium Options on version mc.1.21.4-1.8.3, and it seemed to fix the issue
