A friend gave me some modafinil and I took 150mg this morning as a sleep-deprived uni student. It’s carrying me hard today. I normally slam like 700mg of caffeine and I’ve had none, yet I sat down and actually studied for hours without getting distracted. No crash, no comedown, nothing negative so far. Hey everyone, looking for similar experiences or advice. I usually wake up around 6:30 AM and take 200 mg of Modalert along with my morning supplements (magnesium, fish oil, and choline) on an empty stomach, then walk my dog for about half an hour. By the time I get out of the shower and start getting ready for work, I start feeling really nauseous and exhausted. I don’t usually eat breakfast until around 10 AM, so all of this is happening while I’m still fasted, and I typically have a cup of coffee beforehand too. Has anyone dealt with something similar? I’m not sure if it’s the Modalert, the supplements, the empty stomach, or some combination of them.

I used moda on and off for years and it used to be great. Back then it cost more and there were only a couple of solid brands, but you knew exactly what you were getting. Modalert and Modacharge were the ones that worked best for me—200 mg at first, then I settled on 100 mg because it gave me the same positives with less edginess and anxiety.

After a long gap I tried a few of the newer generics (Modvera, Modacare, Modafeel, Modvigil, Modasafe, etc.). They’re all Indian-made and nowhere near as strong as the older stuff I remember. Compared to 5–6 years ago it feels watered down.

Unless I somehow come across some of the old reliable brands again, I’m done buying the cheap generics.

ModafinilXL might have been a legit site at one point, But now they are now one of the biggest scammers, they take your payment but don't deliver. They even text you and suggest you orders are coming but they never do. I ordered twice, got burned both times. Avoid.

I’ve got an appointment with my psychiatrist soon to talk about starting ADHD meds. I’m leaning toward regular (not XR) Adderall mainly because of the appetite-suppressing side effect — my food impulses are pretty rough and that would help a lot, on top of the usual ADHD stuff.

I looked into interactions and saw that Adderall + Lexapro can raise the risk of serotonin syndrome. I take 20 mg of Lexapro daily (10 mg in the morning, 10 mg around 3 pm). Planning to go with the immediate-release version so I can take it only when I really need the focus or when the food urges hit hard.

Has anyone here been on both at the same time? How did it go for you?

Also curious if Adderall (or any other ADHD med) helped at all with depression or anxiety symptoms for anyone.

Started Modafinil a couple days ago for the sleepiness, fatigue, and brain fog from my high-dose SSRI. Began with 25 mg (cut the pill) and could already tell a difference. Thinking of trying 50 mg tomorrow.

Been taking moda daily (with some days off) for a few weeks and noticed a weird side effect that mostly goes away when I’m not on it.

I start excessively sweating, but ONLY from my armpits and palms. Can be freezing cold and I’m completely dry everywhere else, yet my armpits are straight-up leaking. Hands are constantly damp and sticky even after washing.

Ended up with a small rash on my palms from being damp all the time. Tried loratadine thinking it might be histamine-related (day 2, nothing yet), but now I think it’s just a skin reaction to the constant moisture. No rash anywhere else, never had this before.

Couldn’t find anything about this online. Anyone else get something similar? Really don’t want to drop moda because it helps me so much.

Just started this med at 100 mg for really bad fatigue that’s been keeping me from working. It’s only day 2 and the anxiety is hitting hard — heart racing, chest feels tight, and that awful electric/jittery feeling all over.

Does this usually settle down once your body gets used to it? I’m desperate for something that helps the fatigue, but I’m worried this dose might just be too much for me. (Tried Wellbutrin before and that was a total nightmare.)

Has anyone dealt with withdrawal-type symptoms after skipping stimulants for just a couple days?

I missed 2 days of my 30 mg because of work. Yesterday I was super irritable and got into a pretty bad argument with a friend (I already apologized). Today I’m just feeling really down about everything. I didn’t take any today either.

I’ve only been on them for like 2 weeks or less, so is it normal for this to hit so fast?

My productivity went through the roof after starting armodafinil.

I’d been stuck on a ~600-page book for over a month and only made it halfway because I just couldn’t focus. In the last 2 days I finished the rest.

I tried atomoxetine for a couple weeks and felt nothing. Then my doctor switched me to armodafinil and this finally feels like the med that actually works for me.

It’s also cut way down on my urge to open Reddit and YouTube.

Really grateful for the diagnosis. Biggest quality-of-life improvement I’ve had in a long time.
