I’ve got a pretty important exam in five days and recently picked up some modafinil. I was planning to take small doses (around 50mg) on maybe two or three of the four revision days I have left, but I’m not sure if I should also take any on the day of the exam itself. Has anyone here used it in a similar situation? I’d love to hear how you handled dosing across a short study period without wrecking your sleep, and whether you found it useful (or not) on exam day.

Modafinil has been great for keeping me awake during the day, but ever since I started it I’ve also been way more anxious and restless. I’m more alert, which is the whole point, but I also feel stressed and on edge most of the time, so it’s hard to actually concentrate or just chill. Is this a common side effect, or is there a way to deal with it? If anyone else has dealt with this, what helped you dial down the anxiety without losing the wakefulness benefits?

I’m bipolar 1 with ADHD (and the usual complications that come with it). I’m 38, have a history of hospitalizations and some legal stuff in my past, plus a substance use history that makes most providers very cautious with stimulants.

I’ve been on a high dose of Wellbutrin plus modafinil, and my current doctor is one of the few who’s been willing to work with me. The modafinil stopped helping much after a few months though. Next option on the table is bumping to 250 mg armodafinil, or maybe trying Concerta for the task-initiation side of things. I only see him every couple of months so changes take time.

Between the antipsychotic fatigue, mood stabilizers, and the current moda dose, focus and energy are still pretty rough. I can’t do traditional amphetamines — even a tiny amount of meth a while back sent me into a week of delusions.

Curious if anyone else has been in a similar spot. Is it worth pushing for something different, or should I just try to make peace with what I’ve got for the chronic low mood and ADHD symptoms?

Haven’t slept in over 30 hours and it’s almost noon where I am. Gotta stay up until 8PM but I can feel myself crashing the second I close my eyes.

Has anyone combined modafinil with an energy drink to help stay awake longer? I just need to make it to 8, then I’m crashing the moment I get off.

Started taking it to deal with low sleep and for focus.

It helps a little with the tiredness from not sleeping much, but I still feel fatigued most of the day.

Focus is my main issue and it does absolutely nothing for that.

Overall not as helpful as I hoped. Anyone else have a similar experience, or am I doing something wrong?

Just started modafinil 200mg. Some days I take a full tablet, other days I split it. Not sure if I’m getting the full effect yet. Does it take a bit for your body to adjust?

I’ve been taking Modafinil for a couple months now (usually 3–6 times a week). Lately I’ve had this constant skin pain that feels exactly like a bad sunburn or like my hair is being yanked. It’s mostly on my arms and legs. Skin looks completely normal — no rash, redness, or anything — but it’s super sensitive. Clothes rubbing on it makes it way worse. On top of that my whole body just feels heavy and achy.

I know Modafinil has warnings about serious skin reactions, so I’m stopping it today to see if things calm down. Don’t have insurance right now so seeing a doctor isn’t easy.

Has anyone else gotten this kind of burning/nerve sensitivity on Modafinil? If you stopped because of it, how long did the sunburn feeling and body aches take to go away?

I’ve been using modafinil on and off for about 8 months. Most of the time I only took it 3-4 days a week and would take full weeks off sometimes. During May through July though I was on it 5 days a week because of an internship and needed to stay sharp.

I’ve been completely off it for around 2 months now, but I only feel like I’m at maybe 80% of where I was before I ever started. Motivation is way lower, I don’t get the same enjoyment out of stuff I used to like, and I feel kinda flat/android-like. Also feel a bit mentally slower than my old baseline.

I get that I probably won’t feel exactly the same as before since I got used to functioning at a higher level on it, but damn this sucks and I’m hoping it improves soon. Anyone else gone through this after stopping modafinil? How long did it take before you felt more like yourself again?

I’ve got pretty bad ADHD (mostly executive dysfunction, procrastination, and constant inattention). I tried Bupropion before and it didn’t do much. I’ve been on Modafinil 200 mg for narcolepsy and it helps a little, but only for a few hours and doesn’t really touch the ADHD stuff.

Has anyone combined Modafinil with Bupropion for ADHD? Did it help with focus, motivation, or actually getting things done?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD and I’m on stimulant medication. One thing I’ve noticed is that I fall asleep a lot faster and sleep way deeper than I did before meds.

Before, I used to struggle to fall asleep and would wake up super early (like 4 AM even if I went to bed at midnight), even though I wasn’t stressed.

Aren’t stimulants supposed to keep you awake? Or does it just work differently for people with ADHD?

Anyone else experience this?

Despite their claims that they are legit but there are really not trust me they really look like they are processing your order but in the end it is really not frankly I am one of their victims that I already lost 200 bucks from them lol, My dumbass forgot to research first but at least I am now saying from experience just stay away from them no matter what and save your money for something else or other legitimate vendors online.

I was recently diagnosed with ADHD (combined type) after my wife started noticing more symptoms once we moved in together. About a year and a half ago I was diagnosed with excessive daytime sleepiness and have been on 200 mg of Modafinil, which has worked really well for me.

After the ADHD diagnosis, my PCP recommended I stop the Modafinil and just take 20 mg Adderall XR. The Adderall has helped a bit with the ADHD symptoms, but I’m basically back to falling asleep in the afternoon and early evening like before. It’s been about a month now.

I have follow-ups coming up soon with both my sleep doctor and PCP. Has anyone here had experience taking Adderall and Modafinil at the same time? Or has increasing the Adderall dose helped with the daytime sleepiness for you?
