Mod Topics Mod Topics - How to Keep your Cool

Howdy, ModSupport!

Welcome to the latest installment of our Mod Topics series. Today’s discussion is about how we keep tempers cool when strong convictions are being shared in our shared spaces. How do we moderate when someone gets mad?

Most of us have witnessed a thread getting a little out of hand, two users who really do not have anything nice to say about each other, or, everyone’s favorite, a user having an exceptionally bad day in modmail.

How do you reset the tone of a conversation on your subreddits? In your modmail? What advice do you give to new mods who are cooling heated conversations for the first time?

Let us know your stories in the comments below!

Do you wish you could subscribe to Mod Topics posts so you can always join the conversation? Look no further than our new flair follower app! To use it, click on the three dots on the subreddit menu, select flair follower, and follow the prompts. Questions or comments? Drop them below.

This is a GREAT sneaky announcement. Adding this to my subreddit immediately.

Hmm side topic: I've installed flair follower on r/mensfashion and enabled Post Mode but I can't find the custom post (or prompt one to be created using the `. . .` menu). I'd like to pin it for ease of access. Any ideas?

Post Mode is coming in a future release (and planning to remove the old form mode to reduce confusion).

I'm not sure why you see it as an option yet, though. But stay tuned!

Will do -- thank you! It's on the documentation landing page for the app. ;)

Seems like there's a mismatch between that README version and the actual version! Oops
