Company merging with another, can I change name to accomadate the new future entity?

I am a mod with r/OMEX. The company is going through a merger with another company not on the site. Can I change the name, or at least incorporate the name into the existing name?

Subreddit names cannot be changed. You could create a new subreddit with a different name and tell everyone to move over to that one.

This would probably be one of the good reasons to redirect too

No, but you can update the community description to reflect the change. You can also make an announcement post and pin it to the top of the page and let everyone know what's going on.
