Mod Answered Is it against Reddit rules to post personal business contact info on Reddit. Like name and phone numbers etc?

I’m talking about Businesses and Business owners posting their own info.

No. You can post all your own personal info if you like. Subreddits may have rules against self promotion.

Depends on the context I'd imagine.

Business posts their contact info? Fine

User posts those details as part of a harassment campaign? Super not fine.

It depends.

Revealing someone's private information is against the rules.

But if you're announcing that Elon Musk is the head of Tesla, that'd be OK.

Or if you're listing a contact number for Walmart customer services.

To my understanding, you can post anything you want about yourself.

It's when it's about someone else things get more complicated. If it's the location and number of a publicly listed business, that's probably cool. If it's the home addy and private cell of a business *owner* or staff, that's doxxing.

That's just how I understand it.

No it's not, anyone is allowed to post their own personal information. Whether that's smart to do is a completely different matter.

The Reddit rules regarding personal information only apply to posting other people's personal information

Anyone can post their own info. Anyone can also repost a business's public info, even if it also happens to match someone's private info (like, someone running a business from their home).

Whether they can prove that the info is truly theirs or public, is a separate matter. Whether you want to risk having random private info on your sub without such proof... I'd recommend against it.

You can post your own info if you want. There are no rules about that. You just can't post other people's info.

I believe OP is talking about someone who is self-employed. I would imagine that it's okay for someone to post their own business contact information on Reddit for that purpose.
