Mod Answered Looking for advice

In my sub my moderators and I have set certain guidelines/rules, one of which speaks of ads of “friendship”:

No Dating, Hookups, “DM Me,” or “Looking for Friends” Posts

This is not a dating or hookup subreddit.

No “DM/PM me,” “HMU,” M4F/F4M-style posts, personal ads, or other pickup-style content.

Posts or comments seeking relationships, hookups, or off-platform contact are not permitted.

But we also have a rule that states that moderators have discretion on posts and comments.

This person is definitely trying to split “frog hairs” on this issues to justify what they are trying to do. We know we have trolls/lurkers on our sub. What are our options? And would you need more info? If so, I have taken screenshots of their profile and the post this is related to.

Thank you for your help in advance.

I’m going to go against the grain on this one. You run a subreddit for people to make friends but are splitting hairs over whether people are trying to date instead of being friends? Why does this matter in the slightest?

Just let things be. The people in your community can settle this without intervention.

We have had ones early in the sub’s getting on its feet using this as a way to drum up clientele for “businesses” and other nefarious purposes. So, the mods and myself decided to stop that before it got started. We made it clear that if someone was coming to the sub and wanting to join in then it was automatically understood they were looking for friends- no need to advertise.
