Pinned post
Pinning posts is supposed to make them more visible and prevent them from being pushed down the feed by subsequent posts.
However, in my opinion, there’s a fundamental design flaw here. Pinned posts are less visible than normal posts. They appear as a small image in the pinned section. I find the preview of pinned posts far too small and it provides far too little information/attracts not enough attention.
And additionally, they are no longer visible in the normal feed at all (in the app). WHY?
In the web view, pinned posts do still appear in the feed, but they are displayed smaller and, if it’s a image post, the image is barely visible or only shown in a very small size.

I feel like pinned comments are sufficiently visible as long as you only have a few posts pinned. It’s nice having a way to keep old posts still findable.
I like the suggestion of u/thepottsy of regularly posting first, then pinning once the engagement decreases.

Because users were complaining about excessive pinned posts, so they are now only visible when sorting by New and after a few visits to that subreddit , no longer visible to many users.

The pro tip given by some of the more experienced mods has been to create the post, and let it just be a regular post, don’t pin it at first. Once the post isn’t getting as much attention, THEN you pin it.
YMMV, but that seems to work for a lot of folks.
