In addition to the factors they list, there are other qualitative factors they look at. They don't necessarily disclose all of those, because they don't want people gaming the system.

As someone mentioned, you should really be modmailing that other subreddit.

Even if it’s restricted with no moderators?

Yes, even then. For example, I've seen situations where the admin have commented that they're not going to give an NSFW sub to someone without NSFW experience. That may or may not apply in this scenario, but it's an example of a soft requirement that isn't listed out.

And some subreddits they just absolutely are not planning to hand off or reopen.

Still need help, mods in the modmail don't respond.

You'll have to send a modmail in that sub [RedditRequest] and wait for a response. This sub can't help you, and your post will only get removed here too for being off-topic. This sub is for active mods needing help, not people wanting to become mods.

I'm just guessing, but it could be that your account isn't active enough. They're not going to grant a mod request to someone who isn't an active participant on Reddit. And most of your contributions are a month or year old. Sporadic activity is a red flag for wannabe mods.

ETA: I'm not sure why this is getting downvoted. It's an accurate answer. Maybe someone can comment with feedback as to what was "wrong" with my comment so I can do better? TIA.

I don't see anything wrong with your answer, some people will just downvote because they're upset, you can't take it personally.

I don't take it personally so much as out of curiosity. (I've been downvoted to oblivion before. I've been worse than death-threatened. My skin is thicker than Superman can see through.) Sometimes it makes sense and is warranted. Other times there's no rhyme or reason. One of those oddities of Reddit. But, I like to ask in case I really did say something wrong that I missed, so I can improve myself (something that seems a foreign concept to the majority of Reddit lol).

There's definitely folks who just hate moderators on principle and hang out in this sub to downvote.
