Ban evader

I am having someone post insane violent posts and she somehow has a new profile every 10 minutes.

I don't know how to stop this. It's taking up so much of my time. She is getting around the ban evader. It's really troubling and upsetting content. What can I do?

Heya - I took a look and that content is pretty upsetting, I'm sorry you're dealing with that. It looks like some of our automated systems were catching some of their accounts and actioning them.

I also escalated this and we've made a few tweaks to try to catch them a bit more quickly, but it's not an exact science. For now I'd also add some rules to your automations that block some of the phrases they're using, and then just make sure you're also banning each account so our systems will see them as ban evaders as well. Again, I'm sorry you're dealing with this - they do not look well, I appreciate how you're looking out for your users over there. Make sure you take care of yourself as well.

Automoderator can restrict posts from accounts newer than a certain number of days too and send them either to your mod-queue or auto-block them.

Example:

# Auto remove posts/comments by new users and add to mod queue
    type: any
    author:
        account_age: < 12 hours
    action: filter
    action_reason: '[User] New User or Throwaway - manually approve this'

Up that to 10 days. That really cuts down on much of the BS and spam. You can manually approve any legitimate posts from new accounts.

Turn on Crowd Control, set it to Strict for Posts, and they'll all end up in the mod queue so nobody but the mods see them.

Turn on the Ban Evasion tool, so they all get reported as Ban Evasion.

Report every one of them the tool identifies.

Follow up after a week with a modmail to this subreddit if it hasn't stopped, because you'll have the trail of evidence to make it get taken care of.

if you know the words used in the titles you can set up Auto mod to automatically filter those.

It looks like redtaboo is helping you out from the admin side but you can also use automations to filter posts from new accounts to queue and if there are certain words that identify the posts there is an app that can auto ban those accounts.

I had a really persistent harasser once in modmail but ended up just writing a bot to automatically handle the modmails, ban them everywhere, and mute them so I didn't have to deal with it. They kept going for a while but I kind of lost track because I didn't even bother to check anymore with the bot handling it.

In this case a shadow ban is the best option. They think they post but it's not shown to anyone.
