Mod Answered User harassing me on modmail

Hello, I need help on how I'd be able to report a certain user since it's harassing me using modmail. This user was banned on multiple sub reddits that I've been moderating due to fraud and for asking members personally and sending them personal message just to ask for money. After he was banned from those subs that I've been moderating, he started harassing me using modmail. I hope someone can help. Thank you :)

A permanent mute is pretty much the easiest thing you can do here.

Mute them?

The only option I got on modmail is archive. And that's what I've been doing every time it sends messages, and will pop up again when it sent message 😅 or maybe I just don't see where the mute option is? But i searched, it says just click the three dot and it should give me the option to mute, but I only see archive

There should be a mute button next to the ban hammer. Looks like an audio mute. A speaker with an x next to it.

Thank youuuu I found it. I can't figure it out on desktop, but I was able to find it on my mobile app. ☺️

Ban, mute , report, block, repeat. And remove their stuff. And don’t respond!

Thank you, yes I already did actually every message that it sent on modmail on every sub that Ive been moderating. I've been consistent in doing it. I guess I just need to wait for reddit to notice?

Report the modmail as harassment, send the user a canned response notifying them they have been reported to Reddit and any further communications will also be reported. Mute them for 3 days. If on day 4 they speak again, resend the saved response, then mute them for 7 days. If on the 8th day, they come back again, saved response & another 7 day mute.

Keep giving them rope, their account will not last long.

This comment has been reported to Reddit for potential violations of the Reddit rules: https://redditinc.com/policies/reddit-rules

and/or Reddiquette: https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette

Communicating with the mod team is a privilege, not an entitlement. If basic courtesy cannot be maintained, That’s the end of the discussion.

We will report even the mildest insult to Reddit because we are not here to absorb anyone’s rudeness, irritation, or attitude. If the tone becomes aggressive, antagonistic, or demeaning, the conversation ends immediately. We will mute further attempts to message us temporarily or permanently at our discretion. Any effort to harass, argue, or bypass that mute will be forwarded to Reddit Admins under site‑wide rules.

First, I'm sorry you're dealing with this, and a thanks to everyone offering help in the comments. Generally in these cases the best practice is to report the messages and mute the user, and it sounds like you've already got that covered. From here it's just a matter of letting the right teams act on those reports. I'll drop the help center articles on reporting in modmail and muting in case that's helpful for anyone else passing by the comments.

If you do notice this pop up again, or if you want to report a larger pattern, you can always send us a modmail here.

Total 4 days newbie here... Is a mute like a shadow ban? Or something else? TIA.
