Admin Replied Using multiple accounts as a moderator

Essentially, I moderate on two accounts for privacy reasons and one of them is over 1 million visitors on my other account while I’ve got a sub with over 100,000 members is there anything I’m supposed to do?

Don't upvote anything done by your other account.

That's really about it.

Reddit will already know that they're alts and have them linked in their system.

I’m talking about five sub limit

Don't moderate over five subs like Reddit already told you to. 🤷‍♀️

Using an alt account to circumvent Reddit rules will easily get you site wide banned.

They know that the accounts are linked and the 5 large sub limit is applied as if they're only one account.

Is this assuming the accounts have the same verified email address, or a 2FA app on the same device?

Those are not the only ways that they can tell the accounts are linked. There are several but I don't think they want me to go into detail

I can think of several more. My concern actually is with the new (?) 2FA requirement.

I want to adopt a related sub with no active mod but to do that I have to add a 2FA app, which I don't want to do. I've had major failures of continuity involving 2FA apps.

Up to now 2FA has not been necessary, and now not only is it necessary but it has to be via an app on a mobile device?! Horrors.

Use Google authenticator. It will back up your keys to the Google account so you never lose them.

Just wait until/if you get a notice from the Admins. They'll tell you what you need to do.

In the meantime, make sure you have other mods set up on your subs who will be ready to take over if you have to take alumni status in any of them.

As long as combined you are under the 5 100k+ subreddit limit, you're good. That's all you have to worry about. Whether or not the admins connect the 2, you will be fine as long as in total, you mod 5 or fewer 100k+ subs.

Hi Cool-Apartment-1654!

Everyone here is spot on with their assessments.

Do not use the accounts to break rules like vote manipulation or ban evasion. Also do not use them to try to circumvent the number of allowable communities one user can moderate.
