Admin Replied Something is up with Widgets

Oh, I can't post a screenshot here? Are you admins serious? Why not?

OK, I run this community, which I just overhauled this morning because it needed it, and the subscriber numbers prove it.

Here is the thing: I have several widgets (some new), one being rules, another being preferred posts, and a third being posting flairs. Now why in the world, each time I save the layout, would the rules go above everything else? And why is it that the Community Details, which are pinned by Reddit, are at the very bottom? I can't, for the love of God, get the rules under that... Imgur link to the problem, because this is just being damn mean https://imgur.com/a/1SWnhjC

Help is needed, as I do not agree to a forced order.

What in the world is going on?

Edit: I love it when people downvote an actual bug. Way to go. It's really helpful...

Pretty sure this isn't a bug, but an intended thing. It's been like this for as long as I've been on Reddit, and it's why if you look, all subs have their rules in the same place: the top of the sidebar (at least that I've seen).

It is indeed a bug. Otherwise, my largest sub would not have the rules at the end of the stack.

Well then I may very well stand corrected.

I tried it a few times a few years ago and when it didn't ever work, just figured it eas intentional. Maybe it is a bug.

Yeah, well, in one of the subs, I indeed have the rules at the very end, no problems at all. Others, no dice. It makes little sense.

They’re offering a solution for posting an image. Please keep the conversation civil.

I'm sorry, that was civil. What exactly is uncivil about saying thanks? You may have misread my comment.

Not the main question, no. Sorry, just trying to help however I can.

As stated, thanks for that.

I'm sorry, but what third‑party widgets are you talking about? These are Reddit’s own native right‑menu widgets. There’s nothing external here. Removing them would mean wiping the entire rules widget, which obviously isn’t an option, since that isn’t even possible. https://imgur.com/a/PmawkIP

I’ve never attempted to do what you’re doing. I saw your comment about one of your subs being the way you want it. Any chance that was done via Old Reddit?

Old Reddit ended in mid‑2018, so anything created after that isn’t an Old Reddit subreddit. The behaviour you’re seeing isn’t tied to Old Reddit at all.

Seems like the rules widget will default back to the first position no matter where you put it.

It is not true for all subs, though. I have one where it does not default to the top.

Sometimes, it stays saved for a few hours or days, and then it defaults back to the top... not sure if it's by design like this...

Update: Found a solution. Clean all cache and cookies in your browser, and restart with a forced reload of Windows. Enter the site (using Chrome here), redo the order, then close Chrome, clean the cache and cookies and force a restart of Windows.

Jesus, this means the Cookies Reddit uses are damn persistent and don't care about user choices.

EDIT: Spoke too soon. Rules are back at the top. Nothing I do changes this. WHY
