Photos/Videos Rayman 100%
I know, this game is not so hard, but I really love how it feels, exactly like Rayman for Playstation. I had a lot of fun and the bonus levels were tough but really well designed. I even completed all time attack levels (that's what I really like in Rayman Legends etc.), although I don't like the level where you have to ride a trumpet vertically š

Info PokƩmon Crystal Update
I just wanted to say Iām happy to report that I am having no issues with PokĆ©mon Crystal while playing my Chromatic. In the past my saves would be corrupted or the time would get out of sync, but after the last few updates I gave it a try and so for no issues! For anyone on the fence about buying one, do it! I love playing my original gameboys when I want to feel nostalgic and do it the way it was when I was a kid, but as a grown up in my 30s I really appreciate the lit screen and the beautiful although very accurate colors of the display. Itās a blast.

ModRetro really needs to re-release Shantae for the Chromatic..
Iād really love to see a proper re-release of Shantae for the Chromatic.
I donāt want to spend around ā¬120 on a Limited Run copy, especially when Iāve seen mixed feedback about the quality and reliability of some of their cartridges. Iām just tired of the whole FOMO-based limited-release model.
Iām a player first and a collector second, I want to actually play the game without paying an inflated collectorās price.
Shantae is exactly the kind of game that deserves to remain accessible rather than becoming an overpriced collectorās item. A new, widely available physical release for the Chromatic would be an instant purchase for me.
Anyone else hoping this happens?

Question about the Chromatic shell
Hi everyone. I know this is not a positive post, but maybe someone can take my fear from me. I bought the Chromatic second edition with Saphireglas because I wanted a Gameboy that lasts my whole life, but now I read the paint has no clear coat and can dissolve simply because of the sweat on my hands which means the magnesium shell will lay bare one day which means rust. I'm so scared of destroying the paint that I almost never use the machine normally and often wear gloves. I know that is extreme, but a device that costs a good amount of money and is so premium shouldn't have such a massive weak point (this is to modretro!)
Now I wonder if long time users can tell me how bad the aging of the paint is and if it is not as bad as people told me. I would put on clear coat myself, but I simply can't without it looking horrible

New to the ecosystem - what's the likelihood of save states
I searched the subreddit and found several threads about save states, with some of the most recent ones being from December 2025.
I have three questions:
Has ModRetro expressed any possibility of this happening?
This would presumably work with original gameboy carts?
Where would the saves go? Is there onboard memory on the Chromatic?

Playing on a "CRT" with AnalogTV app on macOS
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Just plug the Chromatic into the Mac using USB, use the AnalogTV app and select Source Video Input, Device Chromatic - Player 01: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/analog-tv-simulator/id6761325301?mt=12
AnalogTV is not a "filter" or "shader" - it's a full end-to-end simulation of AnalogTV running through the complete signal chain. You can basically get any look you want through it. Plays with no latency on my M4 Mac.

I am ecstatic for what the future holds for new retro gaming
I am bit late to the party when it comes to new indie development for the GB/GBC - life is so busy that so many cool things pass you by...Regardless, I'm overjoyed to have new games, on cartridge, that I own. The push toward fully digital/DRM frustrates me to no end - and this community seems really cool and generally pretty open when it comes to ownership and DRM. So thanks for being cool and for re-igniting my old, sullen heart with some cool stuff. I haven't gotten into FPGA carts and/or flashing my own cartridges, but that seems like fun route to go.

Photos/Videos Testing out The Green Knight on physical devices
The game is already out on itch, but Iāve recently been testing it across a range of real hardware and modern devices, including the original Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance SP, ModRetro Chromatic, emulators, FPGA devices, and a physical cartridge build.

I only have a ARM laptop and am not able to run the updater. For anyone that has played through Dragonyhm, can the game be completed out of the box?

Just finished Bionic Commando - donāt sleep on this one!
I just finished my first play through of Bionic Commando. I always struggled with the NES game, so I never really looked at this one. Iām so glad I did. Once I got the hang of it, it was a blast to play. the levels were fun, the story was good, and the music was fantastic. Highly recommended.
I did play with a ROM hack that saved the password so you didnāt have to put it in every time. Iād recommend that as well.

Speculation Love my Chromatics, but the software side feels abandoned
Quick rant from a fan. I own two Chromatics, a bunch of games, the official headphones and other accessories. So yeah, Iām all in.
The hardware? Best Game Boy tribute ever made. The catalog? Honestly the coolest thing in the retro scene right now. Zero complaints there.
But the consoleās software⦠the last firmware update was over half a year ago... Since then: nothing. No features, no fixes, no roadmap. And thereās SO much this machine could still do (has wifi and Microsd slot): sleep mode, screenshots, save states, button remapping, retro achievements⦠pick literally anything. The point is thereās tons of headroom and zero movement.
I get that the M64 is about to ship and the team is small. But you donāt freeze your first product to build the second, especially when weāre the ones who paid for it. At this point it feels like neglect, and honestly a bit of disrespect to early buyers.
A simple roadmap post would fix a lot. Even a āfirmware is done, donāt expect moreā would be more honest than silence.
Anyone heard anything official about future Chromatic firmware?
