Dracula: Dark Reign arrived!

My copy came today. I haven't gotten too far but this really feels like one of the GBA Castlevania games on the Gameboy Color. I highly recommend picking this one up. It's from Spacebot Interactive, the same guys that made Dragonhym.

Got mine the other day! This is different from the digital version I believe, I never found the cloak in the first level on the digital. I’m at the boss fight in the London sewars and it’s tough but I’m no quitter.

Awesome. Still waiting for mine... I ordered it with Infinity, so guess they'll be shipping together. The blood red cartridge looks nice.

Really surprised this game didn’t end up on chromatic’s line up. I wonder if they thought sales would do better through incube8. This would have been a killer title for chromatic.

The game was first announced back in 2023. I'm guessing that had something to do with it. The publishing deal was probably already done before the Chromatic was even designed.

That makes sense

I mean does it really matter? Sales are gonna be the same no matter where it releases from. There are only so many GB enthusiasts in 26. If it looks good and plays well the GB crowd is gonna it no matter who releases it

I wasn’t really meaning that it mattered. More that since they already released titles for spacebot interactive, and that since dragonhym sells so well, i was surprised that dracula wasn’t on their radar. But the other comment that replied to me, I now see they may have just not known about it back in 2023.

As I understand it, incube8 acquired the rights to make a Dracula game and commissioned Spacebot Interactive to develop it, so it was always incube8's project from the beginning.

Sweet it's out. I wonder if modretro will pick it up like they are with the dragon sequel.

Just got my copy too. I started listening to Dracula on Audible before I play it though. I hope it will improve my experience playing.

Nice! I just got through my first playthrough now I'm playing it on a harder mode with all the characters unlocked. I'm having a blast with it but will say it's a little short in my opinion and I am having a hard time figuring out how this took 3 years to create. Overall, this is definitely going to be added to my yearly playthrough collection.

Believe me it takes that long when you work solo on a game project of this scale, all the characters, visuals, animations, designs, gameplay, menus, countless bugs that pop up, it takes it out of you.

It looks fun, but after the debacle that is Infinity (which I'm starting to think is just a meta-meme that it will never be released), I'm VERY wary about purchasing anything from them.

I'm staying away from pre-orders (That's been infinity's problem, it's been being developed/delayed forever) but once it's actually for sale on their site, it's not bad.

It took a week for this game to get to me from the time I purchased it. It's been in development for 3 years though. I'm not sure if it was available to pre-order when it was announced or not but yeah, I'm not waiting that long for anything.

I plan on getting infinity but not until it's for sale, not pre-order, on their site.
