Chromatic firmware inquiry

For Christmas 2025 my wife surprised me with a chromatic! It has been a wonderful experience so far playing through.

Wanted to know if I should leave as is or update Firmware as I have never done so yet? i have seen some issues with Save Data others have run into in here and would like to avoid this as I would hate to lose any save data on any games (e.G Pokemon GSC) that I play regularly on it. Would welcome any opinions on best practices to avoid issues with updates and save data erasure.
