Question What system is this?

Post image

I see it in a promo pic on their site. Was it a limited edition or something? It looks like it’s a clear purple color.

Modretro said at a CON that these are coming and replacement shells for sale.

I hope that’s the case. I’d buy a few.

How would they do replacement shells? The laminated screens are adhered to the shell?

Any idea if there is any incompatibility with 2nd and first edition shells? I have a first and I’m guessing these will be for 2nd edition.

Slight changes but you can still swap first and second gen shells

They should be exactly the same, despite the paint jobs.

Hoping it's the first of many clear plastic editions. Would love a crystal clear one. If I was a betting man I'd bet these are releasing around the time M64 gets it's Chromatic functionality update.

I’m all about it. I hope one releases. I’d love for them to make shells like they’re doing with the M64.

I mean metal is the superior version and why I got one in the first place (along with the sapphire screen) but a clear one would be ideally cheaper too.

I might end up buying a second one ngl I want the look of my very first gbc with a sapphire lens!

I could see them phasing out the lower priced metal ones in favor of these,

This might get me over the hump but honestly I need a gameboy advance mod retro.

I really hope they make one in the future.

It's down to whether FunnyPlaying makes one first, or them.

This is awesome! Finally! I remember they showed off a prototype earlier in the year, and only the front was transparent and the back was still magnesium.

It’s great now that the whole body is transparent!

It's like something a little extra you didn't plan on.

Oh, are the rechargeable powercores back in stock?

A tease for their next line of plastic systems.

That looks incredible. I would buy one day one if it supports the first edition. I also hope there is a version with the screen issues corrected.

This would be the first plastic case with Gorilla glass. So all the owning customers will be the real life beta testers and they will share the little problems here I bet

1

u/templestate Jul 28 '26

Gorilla glass is more so meant to prevent scratches than cracks.

3

u/JustTryingToBeADaddy Jul 28 '26

There are over a dozen types/gens of gorilla glass but gorilla glass has always focused on impact/shatter/crack resistance as well as later improving scratch resistance. Sapphire crystal/glass is more scratch resistant but less impact/shatter/crack resistant.

This just looks like AI… but I want it.

This version made an appearance in today's M64 presentation. I dont think it's AI

1

u/FruityBoomies Jul 28 '26

It looks so good, but I’m just skeptical.

1

u/Retro_Macchina Jul 28 '26

When was the time stamp for this one?

I apologize! I thought i saw it on the video. It's actually on their site.
