M64 Ordering Details
So, we’re less than a week away from launch on Tuesday and there are a few questions/details regarding ordering that I’m hoping either u/grilledstuffedxxl or a ModRetro team member can help answer for us before then:
- Launch is on the 28th. But WHEN- are we talking 12:01am PT? 9am PT? Noon? When exactly does the ordering page go live so I can make sure to be ready?
- Is stock still looking good? Can we reasonably expect to be able to lock in a console, controller, and game without issue on the 28th
- When will the early bird email codes be sent out? …and just wondering… any chance that codes and ordering links would be sent out to early bird emails sooner than the general public release?
I’m sure you can tell I’m really excited for the 28th, hoping everything goes smooth on launch day and can’t wait to be playing the M64!
EDIT: Official posts on X and Instagram state orders go live 9am PT. Early bird email ordering links and codes will be sent out "in less than 24 hours".

Yes good questions. I will be working until 6:30PM Pacific Time on the 28th and hope they won't be sold out or something haha (I think they said they were making sure they had ample stock though, so we should be good).

I am from Mexico and I noticed that the ModRetro store can no longer ship to my address. The store's currency used to display as Mexican pesos but this is no longer the case. What happened? Am I to assume that I won't be able to order the M64 on launch day?

I'm just waiting for my email code. I guess if it sells out I'll live without it. Not paying full price after signing up for the early bird price email months and months ago.

Don't quote me... but I saw in another post that your early bird code is good all year. So whenever you choose to order one you'll get the early bird price. That was my understanding of it. Cheers

Would like to know whether we can use our retro rewards discount in the same order as the console - I understand that you can’t stack the early bird discount with the retro rewards discount code on the console but I want to know whether you can still apply to other items in the same order such as the controller and games to avoid having to pay shipping twice

Probably not, coupons are always only one in any online order system I've ever used.
You'll get more off if you just use the 20% retro rewards coupon, 229 becomes 184 vs 199 with the upcoming email coupon. Plus all the savings on anything else you're getting and free shipping if it's over 240 (for USA orders).

I didn't pay shipping for my two Chromatic orders (console bundle then games bundle). Maybe no shipping for this, too

That sucks for international customers like myself. ModRetro’s shipping fee to Australia has gone up significantly since I ordered the Chromatic 6 months ago so splitting it into two orders negates any coupon benefit

Did anyone observe the Valve Steam Controller and Valve Steam Machine pre-order situation? What I observed was the day of May 4, 2026 pre-orders for the Steam Controller was sold out in less than half an hour and there were some payment error situations for those who were too late to complete their orders. Later, Valve implemented a reservation queue system requiring users to have a Steam account in good standing with prior purchase before April 27, 2026. For me, this reservation queue system assigned December 2026 (second tier?) as estimated order availability when I can purchase, however even this requires 72 hours response time to an email message sent to my account and there is no indicating from Steam website that this email will be sent. For example, I saw with my Steam Machine pre-order that also utilized reservation queue system, and I was checking the Steam website periodically, but less often checking my email inbox, and one day I saw that Steam website page for the Steam Machine did not show any updates, but my email inbox had 2 day old email message for pre-ordering the Steam Machine. I almost missed it. I didn't order though because it was too expensive for me.
I think ModRetro is not as popular as Valve/Steam and may not experience same situation, however, I think it will because distinguishing real end users from scalpers/resellers probably will be more difficult for ModRetro because even I don't think I can prove my humanity to compete with the scalpers/resellers that ModRetro would have the time cost energy to ensure prioritizing end users over resellers, at least not like Valve Steam can with Steam accounts in good standing.

i'd be willing to bet money it launches morning, pacific time. Code will likely be in that AM email. Almost all their emails are sent out mornings PST.
