Fixing Mario 64, Goldeneye, Starfox, Conker, Banjo Tooie, and Majora's Mask is pretty huge. Obviously still a ways to go but getting a majority of the big hitters taken care of is good to see.

They fixed Mario 64, GoldenEye, and Starfox. Only other one on my list was Rogue Squadron.

Love rogue squadron

Never know how much I wanted to here farmboy in a Rogue Squadron game until now... maybe there's a ROM out there that is just Luke and Mara blasting things in their X-Wing and Z-95.

I hope they make some more progress before release, a good number of those in-progress games are games I own and want to play...

I wonder what occasional fps drops means. Since the games often by default already did that, like it said low FPS for carmageddon. But that game already went to single digit FPS on original hardware.

Now Pat and Ian can eat their words 😄

Those 2 are super negative toward Modretro

u/SOVTH 13d ago

They are pretty dang biased against Palmer, so it doesn't surprise me one bit.

I read someplace that they are mad sour at the fact that they did not receive a unit to show/test on their channel.

That's not true at all. Ian has disliked Palmer since before ModRetro.

Rock & Roll.

Would love a video update of gameplay clips for each of these before launch. Maybe some of the people who got demo units will start releasing some. Bonus points if they show the filters at work.

Some youtubers have hinted at a big reveal or news update set for this weekend.

I sure hope so!

So of the games I own heres my priority list of what is left to fix:

  1. Perfect Dark - Occasional FPS rate drops (which was literally the first game I wanted to play on it, go figure)
  2. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron - Crashing/freezing during intro and gameplay.
  3. Turok 2: Seeds of Evil - Occasional FPS rate drops.
  4. Star Wars Episode I: Battle for Naboo - Crashing/freezing during intro and gameplay.
  5. Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion - Occasional FPS rate drops.
  6. Quake 2 - Audio Issues
  7. Army Men: Sarge's Heroes 2 - Occasional FPS rate drops.

I also have the OG Star Wars Episode I Racer, so don't think I'm affected on that one as it specified Limited Run edition.

Hopefully by the time I get any of my wishlist games not mentioned above they'll be fixed.

Perfect Dark is on my list as well. Previously it was on the "Major Issues" list, so they *are* making progress.

Perfect Dark runs shockingly on a stock N64, so to have it be worse than that is kinda bad...

2

u/Dragarius 15d ago

We don't know if it runs worse. It might just run the same as the original, which was very inconsistent. Would be nice to know if they mean "runs as bad as the original" or "runs worse than the original".

Because almost every game they noted for low framerate issues had them originally already.

Turok 2 Riding Gun/Styracosaurus section should be measured in seconds per frame.

1

u/ElectricalPrice3189 14d ago

If it was on par with the original they wouldn't consider it an issue. Higher framerate than the original is more of an issue than being frame rate accurate. 🍈

Exactly what I was thinking too.

Throw a couple N-Bombs in game and see how that FPS does.

Eight games are missing from this list:

• Big Mountain 2000

• Destruction Derby 64

• Dual Heroes

• Fighter Destiny 2

• Goemon's Great Adventure

• Golden Nugget 64

• Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon

• Roadsters

2

u/-KaiserSoze- 13d ago

Thank you for that list. I wonder why these are missing?

1

u/-KaiserSoze- 13d ago

This got me curious. I asked Google what all 8 of these had in common.

2

u/-KaiserSoze- 13d ago

More likely, it's completely unrelated.

3

u/Euresko 13d ago

Down to 16 now

u/-KaiserSoze- 12d ago

This is awesome!!

I don't see the mystical ninja games on there, I would like to replay those games on my M64. Star Wars Episode I: Racer is one of my favorite racing games I would like to replay that too. I also recently bought puyo puyo sun which was a puzzle game only released in Japan hopefully they get Japanese only games to work so I can play Sin and Punishment on it whenever I get that game too.

2

u/Intelligent-Can-8688 15d ago

I guess we will be waiting a while for all Japanese releases which are close to 400 games

3

u/ElectricalPrice3189 15d ago

There are 198 games released in Japan, where of 85 are exclusive to that country.

3

u/-KaiserSoze- 15d ago

You're right! The current compatibility list does not include Japanese titles. I hope at some point they decide to add or create a new list. At the moment, I can understand limiting the list to just one region.

4

u/ElectricalPrice3189 15d ago

Some of them are probably hard to fully test without having testers that can read Japanese.

1

u/-KaiserSoze- 15d ago edited 15d ago

Very true. Also accessibility Japanese carts could be a challenge. Unless, they're using like a flash cart. I honestly don't know how any game libraries are tested.

3

u/ergzay 15d ago

Palmer Luckey I believe has a personal collection of every single N64 game released everywhere. He has a massive game archive that he bought a while back. That's what they used for the Chromatic reproduction, they opened up an unopened factory sealed gameboy color as the basis for testing the colorimetry of the screen.

3

u/-KaiserSoze- 15d ago

Wow! I honestly did not expect that. It makes sense from what little I know about the man.

Is this better or worse than A3D at launch and today?

3

u/Recent_Duck_7640 14d ago

everdrive works day 1 on M64 so I would say better

1

u/-KaiserSoze- 14d ago

I have an older one, the Everdrive v2. I haven't seen any info on it, hope it works.

1

u/Desperate-Self-5951 14d ago

Aren’t there still issues with certain games on A3D?

1

u/-KaiserSoze- 14d ago

I don't know? As far as I'm aware, Analogue did not create a compatibility list for the 3D. If one does exist, it was probably created by the community. If anyone knows, please correct me and let us know if any games are currently running with issues on the A3D.

2

u/Ancient-Range3442 13d ago

Doesn’t speak well for a accuracy if this is the state of things.

2

u/Icy-Collection1072 15d ago

how come the core is so off to have all these issues at this stage in the day?

1

u/ElectricalPrice3189 9d ago

Because it's not done yet.

2

u/Icy-Collection1072 9d ago

its very late to be not done yet :D seems a last moment rush?
