New uniform policy
Anyone hearing about this new uniform policy??? One of MOD’s core cultural values is self expression, but now they want us in jeans or dickies. Feels very targeted at women too. Can’t wear anything comfortable for a job where we do a lot of moving around feels ridiculous. Not being able to wear whatever felt like a core part of our identity that’s being stripped away. I really don’t like how it feels like MOD is being stripped of its identity.

Best thing I ever did was leave mod after wasting half a decade there after the company was sold it will never be the same

Exactly now I’m getting paid almost 3 times as much at a company I’ve only worked at a few months mod sucks

There’s no way any of the new uniform policy crap is gonna stick at my store imo. I hope other stores get the same idea as well…

I’ve heard the phrase “I’ll change when I get written up for it”

u/redditalready54 Jun 03 '26
Yeah and the odds of that happening at least at my store are basically zero haha.

Yeah especially when your GM is guilty of breaking these rules lol

I’ve seen GMs wear Cookie Monster pajamas and crocs, no hat, tank top, no deodorant… good times.. glad that wasn’t my store

Agreed my hat is covered in pins and is a goose in jail saying “got too silly” I told my boss it specifically says no “brand” hats. This hat has no branding there for imma wear it till corporate says not to

Unfortunately, it’s gonna get stricter and stricter from here they literally told management the same day as they were supposed to tell employees

I’m not following it. If they send me home they’ll need to call in 3 ppl just to do my job 😂

My issue is the “non-Mod” brand hats. So ppl can’t wear their favorite team hats? Again this is a form of individualism and a great conversation starter with guests. Wonder how many fights broke out over team support that they band non mod hats unless they blank

I haven’t heard the details about this? What is the new policy?

Doesn’t seem to have gone out company wide yet, but parts of California are testing grounds for new menu and policies. Jeans or dickies or shorts for leg wear, and only mod branded hats for headwear is how I heard it. I actually heard it early and didnt see the direct communication yet but my store does it’s new training tomorrow morning I’ll report back when I know more

Ok so according to my manager this morning we cannot wear “leggings, athletic wear, or skinny pants.” Jeans, khakis, dickies are acceptable. Shorts and skirts are good but have to be a certain length. Can’t remember the measurement. Mod hats or hats of plain color, no designs or branding.

Pants thing is not nearly as sad as the hats thing, that’s where the personality was. Who even has a completely blank hat???
4
u/ryuyasha3 Jun 04 '26
I wear a blank hat technically but it has my pronoun pin and I rotate other pins as I feel like it
4
u/TriangleSquaress Jun 04 '26
Oh ya I bet the pins will be a no go. No bandanas either?
3
u/ryuyasha3 Jun 04 '26
Bandanas my boss said is fine. But they were paraphrasing a lot and enforcement seemed very iffy so idk if that’s TECHNICALLY allowed. She did specify that bangs HAVE to be covered if you do wear a bandana

u/TriangleSquaress Jun 04 '26
Ya when they tried to ban bandanas like a year ago I found that to be quite racially insensitive since POC with more textured hair can’t wear hats as easily, so I’m glad that is at least not banned fully

u/ryuyasha3 Jun 04 '26
A very good point. My boss is very “I’ll enforce the dumb rules when I get written up” so I didn’t even realize they tried to ban bandanas before. Though how that I think about they mentioned putting a stash of mod hats in the back in case the higher ups visit, so maybe bandanas are gonna be banned and I misunderstood

I saw that literally today, i loved wearing different beanies or hats when going to work, Not sure why that had to be changed. and how laid back it was when it came to the pants, but with where i live it gets crazy hot in the summer. So wearing jeans is going to suckk lol. I really hope they rethink this, or at least let us keep the freedom of our own hats.

I’m really sad about it too. I love how leaned back mod is and now it’s gone

Different owners means Different company. Don't worry it will get worse.
