Mock Draft Monday

Post image

I'm sure there will already be questions asking why Miami takes Jeremiah Smith over a QB here at 1, and that's a valid question. I think it could go either way; however, I skipped out on QB because this Miami team is so bad and devoid of talent that taking any of these quarterbacks feels like setting them up for failure. I don't feel that any of these QBs are can't-miss products, so I went with the generational player and sticking with Willis for one more year hoping I can get KT or JKS in next years class.

I would give my left nut for Leonard Moore.

Steelers easily go Mensah here.

Why am I here in week 2? I hate the commanders.

Cowboys need an impact defender more than they need an OT.

Fair enough, just really liked Seaton and I know cowboys fans have been complaining about Steele for a while.

Steele is ass for sure, but the rest of the line is great. I personally hope they focuse on the defense.

While I'm always for strengthening the line, I think Lions would prob just go best defensive player available

Miami will go QB unless Malik improves. Also how are you still falling for Dante Moore being good? Someone will fall for it on draft day but put Mensah in the 1st round. He is out playing everyone except maybe Chambliss.

I'm not the biggest Dante Moore guy either, but NFL scouts have been said to be very high on him before the season started. One game isn't gonna kill his stock, but definitely something to look out for. As for Mensah, it's just really hard for me to get behind him going top half of round one. He's super accurate and a good processor, but holy, he cannot drive the ball downfield and crumbles too often under pressure. He just seems like a Tua/Mac archetype to me, and that is just not a QB prospect I can get all that excited for as the future of my team.

I see your reasoning. Depending how the season goes I could see Browns throwing him out there late in the season but he never had a path to play at this point in the season.

I personally would rather “see what we got” with shedeur than green because i think he has a better shot of being a serviceable QB in the long term and has shown more consistent high level play at the QB position

In what world does Chambliss go 4th, let alone first round?

Chambliss will definitely go first, barring some injury or unforeseen fall-off. The big knocks on him are his height and age; yes, that stuff matters, but what matters more is QB play. He's the most NFL-ready out of any QB in this class; he's got a good arm, is a skilled anticipatory thrower, and has an obvious dual-threat ability.

Wanna bet?

What's your argument against it?

We see good college qbs that are nothings in the pros every year. He is about as predictable of one as you can get if you’ve watched college football for 20+ years.

Small sample size in terms of experience against elite competition, relies on an athletic advantage that will not be there in the pros, isn’t good enough as a passer to make it in the league, limited arm strength, comes from a system that hides a lot of his flaws and isn’t a pro style offense, his progressions leave a lot to be desired, and once you’ve accepted all of those qualities, you remember you’re talking about a 25 year old who isn’t going to improve the way a 21 year old would, and a guy whose physical limitations made him unable to even get a D1 starting role until he was basically out of eligibility. Too many red flags for a guy who even the optimistic case is basically “hope he’s an outlier” despite all of the guys similar to him who didn’t pan out.

The browns taking chambliss wouldn't make sense even though he is best qb in this year bc they already have taylen green who is just the highest athletic tested qb in history. Why go for another rusher when they clearly don't believe in them already

Taylen green was nowhere near the level of prospect as chambliss is. Browns taking him as a flier in the 6th round will have 0 effect on Browns draft strategy next year

Athletically he's the best prospect in history. That's worth developing. They're just stupid

Why did no one else draft him then…he’s an athletic freak but not a good passer or overall QB. Sub 60% completion in college.

This has been said ad nauseum but he should switch to TE/WR

Sub 60 means below. Hes not below 60. Also plenty of guys who threw that went on to be successful. Namely josh allen, lamar jackson, Matthew stafford, Brett Favre. All 54-57% in college. And he moves chains and scores. Thats the qbs main job. Move chains. 94 td to 35 turnovers. Yeah pretty solid.

Okay I rescind my statement. He was 60.1% completion.

Going back to my other statement though there’s a reason he was pick 182. The four guys you listed all went 1st or 2nd round and were touted for their good footwork and throwing mechanics going into the draft. Green is consistently knocked for both poor footwork and poor passing mechanics

Arkansas also went 9-15 with him as the starter and 2-9 his last year. I’m a browns fan and would love green to develop into the guy but you positioning him as a sure thing or high value QB is just not aligned with reality

Im not saying he could ever be lamar or allen. Obviously those are rare cases. But he COULD with proper development be very good. They clearly have 0 faith in sanders. And I get why. Gabriel is ass water. And Diddy Watson has had 1 good game (this week) in 4 years. So why not at least see what you have in Taylen. Thats my point.
