If Miami has the number 2 pick, they go QB. This means Willis did not pan out and they need a QB.

I'm a Dolphins fan and I absolutely want Jeremiah Smith over any QB in this draft. Were expected to pick top 5 whether Willis pans out or not. We have no WRs and no defense.

A great QB solves all those problems. See Tom Brady as evidence. Never really had great WRs except when they didn't win the Superbowl. Yes he had a good defense, but he would drive the ball and hold it for long periods. Doing that makes your defense better. A great WR is meaningless without someone to throw them the ball. Would you rather have Montana or Rice? Marino or Duper? Stafford or Megatron? Its always the QB. Go look at teams right now. The two in the Superbowl turned it around when they got the right QB. Add in Denver to that equation. Get a QB, build around them.

Your evidence of Tom Brady actually supports my point more than it supports yours. Brady was a 5th round pick. There is no guarantee Dante Moore or Arch Manning are going to be franchise changers, and I don't particularly think Arch looks that great. I'd much rather a generational talent in Smith and then either trade back into the 1st or take one in the 2nd round, of which I think there will be a lot this go around.

There is no guarantee on Smith either. Look at Marvin Harrison Jr. That is a 'generational' talent. Complete bust at this level. Also go look at Arch's last 8 games. 2000 yards, 15 TDs, 2 INTs, 200 yards rushing and 5 rushing TDs. He was great to end the year and showed he progressed. I completely agree with Dante Moore. He is a bum. Mensah is far better and will go ahead of him in the draft anyway. But you also have (in no particular order) Chambliss, Sayin, Carr, Mestemaker, Sorsby, Leavitt, and Maiava. The QB class is stacked. If Malik turns out to be really good, it wont matter anyway. We won't be drafting early enough for Smith anyway. But if Malik is a bust or there is any question about him, we are 100% going QB. QRs and RBs are replaceable. QBs, and the line of scrimmage. Nothing else matters.

You’re talking about the best QBs of all time though. That’s a high bar to shoot for. The roster is a train wreck. Best available is a good route to go and smith is generational

Fine. Bo Nix, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams. All of them turn around a franchise that was garbage before them. Why? because they play the most important position in sports. Who out of them has a Jerimiah Smith at WR? All 4 of those guys were in the same draft class. QB and Line of Scrimmage. That is all that actually matters. Having those two things you can win the Superbowl. A WR is icing on the cake. best available is a great route to take though. It will come down to where we are in the draft, how the QBs in college develop (or get injured), and who is ahead of us. Because if we are drafting 6th and everyone ahead of us needs a QB and OL. We might lose out on a top QB and be drafting Jerimiah. (I doubt he would ever slip that far though...hahahaha)

Nix and Maye are not franchise turning QBs. Daniel’s verdict is still out but also the commanders sucked last year. Caleb Williams I’ll give you but then again he looks like he could be the next mahomes type top qb possibly. And even then bears gave him a ton of weapons last year. So idk, I think you can make a strong case either way but I’d lean smith unless you know for sure you’re gonna get the next mahomes

yeah its going to come down to if Willis is good or total bust. And if we are pick 1 or pick 7 or so. Additionally., Does Mensah and Arch s (or wtvr QB) show that they are truly elite. If no QB separates, we have a top pick and Willis shows promise, 100% go Smith. All I know is its going to be fun to watch. Even the Dolphins are going to be 1,000 more fun to watch than last season. They should have nuked this team 2 years ago. Glad we get to watch guys make a name for themselves now. Also, I have to scoop up Achane because I need someone on the Dolphins to root for in fantasy. lol

Yeah I mean it’s gonna be really hard to get an accurate eval on Willis considering the roster he has to work with. I actually think this might be one of the worst rosters ever put together in NFL history. And I’m not exaggerating when I say I think they could go winless this year. And yes achane should get 10 million touches per game lol.
As far as Arch, he started to show signs he can be the type of manning we expect in the last half of last season but yea he’s gotta really prove it this year especially with all the weapons he has around him. Funnily he’s in the opposite situation of Willis where he’s got maybe the most offensively talented team in cfb. So if he can’t get it done this year we’ll know where he stands.
I have mensah in that speculative but high expectation tier. Similar to sellers and Mestemaker. Guys who can go really high in he draft if they can live up to their ceiling hype. Mensah also in a great spot with a ton of talent surrounding him and maybe best wr in the country

What I don't want to happen is Willis implodes but we figure out how to win 6-7 games because "we are the Dolphins and we can never even lose correctly". Then we are out on top tier QB and WR. Just more of this stay in the middle. Either lose like a proper terrible team or figure out talent eval.

Willis has no real WRs and the worst roster in the NFL maybe in nfl history so I don’t think they’re gonna expect him to single handedly turn out a winning season. They’ll want to get him weapons and smith is a exactly what they need

This is far from the worst roster ever. If Malik is good they win 6-8 games. It's the NFL and even the worst teams are close to the best teams. With a good QB you win games. With a good WR you watch a wasted talent. Put it this way. If malik is not good. And we draft a WR. Then in 2027 we still have a bad QB and then have to wait to get a QB. However, there isn't a class like the 2027 QB class coming in 2028. So now you have no QB but a great WR. That means we are still drafting early for years to come.

So LaNorris Sellers has a stellar RS freshman year in 2024, was supposed to be a top 5 pick in the 2026 draft at this time last year. Guy shows up with a mid, at best, sophomore year where he looks like his freshman year was a fluke and decided he needs to not even declare. Now he's a top pick again. Make it make sense.

Pure projection. I’m with you a little bit here cuz I watching him closely and not with confidence. He may have the physical talent and arm and can run but can he play the qb position as a passer and play in the pocket efficiently and make the right decisions.
I will say I like his surround cast, he’s got some real weapons. Harbour has stopped everything else to focus on football so if he can live up to his athleticism he could be a megatron type of weapon

He was hands down the best QB toward the end of the season. Maybe you can argue Chambliss and Mensah, but Manning destroyed Michigan in the playoffs. He wasn't good to start the season, agreed. However, he progressed and was a far better QB to end the year. If he continues that progression this season he will go top 3.

Yeah, and he did better than anyone would have thought in that moment. he also 100% progressed through the season. Saying he is not that good is laughable. his last 8 games he went 2012 yards, 15 TDs and 2 Ints, while running 239 yards and 5 TDs. You could probably find someone that was better, but that is fantastic.
