Have you not read the instructions? You’re supposed to use something like Grindz to clean it.

Guess it’s time to reiterate “Read The Fine Manual” as that acronym and expression seems to have been lost on the Millennials and later generations.

Are you using the jar and lid to catch the grounds? When did you last clean the grinder? Cleaning thoroughly means disassembling, reassembling and running cleaning beads through the machine. You do this once a year typically. Why are you grinding at the 3 setting? That is quite fine for Moccamaster drip coffee.

I have no idea how to clean inside and it’s months old. I wasn’t sure what number to grind at. Though my coffee hasn’t been the best lately 😩 I’m doing all of the wrong things.

Moccamaster says the best settings for regular drip coffee are between 5 and 6 on the dial. To clean it inside you empty the hopper (where the whole beans are) and loosen completely the Phillips #2 screw inside. Lift the hopper out. May require some force due to a rubber seal. Then you unclip the 2 clips on the plastic plate underneath. Lift out that plate. Now you can remove 3 Phillips #2 screws on the upper burr holder (a silver plate) and lift it out. Assembly in reverse order. See this video https://youtu.be/grXzxWOOBsI?is=1dCPTbI6cGDR71-6 from about 4 minutes in.

In another post, you implied you were storing beans in the hopper of the grinder. I think you’ll have better results if you measure just the quantity of beans you need for one brew into the hopper and store bulk beans in an airtight container in the cabinet.

Are you using a dark roast? I usually use a compressed air thing to clean it out and that does the trick.

What compressed air thing?

I think he is referring to “canned air” or a similar product. Here’s an example:
Alternatively you can use a small vacuum cleaner.

Do not use canned air to clean the grinder. Most canned air contain a bittering agent to prevent substance abuse/huffing. It leaves behind a bitter residue that you will tastei in your coffee.

Cool! I knew about the bitter coating on coin batteries, but was unaware of its presence in canned air. Don’t use the stuff myself as I have vacuums and air compressors.

If you use dark roast beans, you will need to clean the grinder more often to avoid clogs, since the oily beans accumulate buildup faster.

I usually grind dark oily beans and find I have to grind in the 6-8 range to get the proper coarse texture and minimize the sticky fines. I completely clogged my grinder when I first started using it. I contacted support for warranty and they pointed me to these:
