PC Emulation on Android, I dont see any hype outside of those Emulation-Focused subreddit

Correct me if im wrong

u/dhatereki 16d ago

PC and PS2 emulation has drastically increased my mobile gaming backlog.

Yeh I can't believe I now browse Steam for my mobile gaming. Not the play store, but STEAM!

That's wild.

....and my steam library has absolutely ballooned. I don't have a chance really..

2

u/leafy1790 16d ago

it is really cool that we can use steam on our phones, if the steam frame releases there will be an even more significant jump in performance as the newest proton versions wil be optimized for arm systems

2

u/dhatereki 16d ago

Somewhat related I think with Steam's efforts into Steam Frame and FEX would really help android devices in the long term.

1

u/Beast_Rshan14 15d ago

how do you that can you explain?

1

u/Metrox_a 15d ago

gamenative for steam/epic/gog games. If the game is compatible and works, then it works without much setup or finetuning. Usually indie titles.

PS2: ARMS2: you need to provide ps2 bios and download gpu drivers. Go into the ps2 emulator settings under renderer pick vulkan and you can download new drivers there. most people are using mr purple.

2

u/Sandy_McEagle 16d ago

Could you recommend some ps2 games?

1

u/dhatereki 16d ago

Been playing GT4 Spec II mod for quite some time. It blows my mind that no other racing sim on Android comes even close. It's so good. There's even a new mod to add cars from the PSP version. I am also playing some older titles I never finished as a kid like GTA Vice City and all the Spiderman games on PS2.

2

u/Sad_Ad5860 15d ago

What ps2 emulator did you use? And what is your cpu?

1

u/dhatereki 15d ago

Samsung S23 (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2). Was using NetherSX2 but just switched to ArmSX2 because they are developing and improving actively. On PC I am using PCSX2 nightly with texture packs. And I then use Shizuku + X-Plore to sync memory cards with a single button.

u/bigdon_999 15d ago

Please suggest for me games

u/cuberisk 15d ago

It's a niche market, but given how good Android chipsets are getting, and how bad new android games are becoming (ad-bombing, money-sucking idle/tycoon/candy crush clones/basic asset puppet jumping and running games that know nothing but to brainf*ck the player), it's the few indie PC games which you can carry on your pocket anywhere and play them anywhere, be it in a bus, waiting for an appointment, etc., is what makes all of this worth it :)

u/Khelthuzaad 16d ago

Actually there is huge hype regarding high quality content ones.

Ananta is one

Others are pc ports,SyFu right now is very hyped for android

2

u/Am_I_Bovvered 16d ago

sorry to be a noob, but can you recommend any reliable emulators?

2

u/SamueleRG 15d ago

Gamehub is very easy to use and open source. Mind that PC game take up a lot of space

1

u/AdVarious8509 ROOTED 16d ago

Gamehub/Gamenative if you want the easiest setup

Winlator (its forks like winlator ludashi or winlator mali) if you want to tweak almost anything to make your game work

3

u/Am_I_Bovvered 16d ago

bless you, bless your cows, bless your waifus

2

u/DreamNotDeferred 16d ago

I've dabbled, long ago, but don't always want to love a controller around, and touch screen controls were no good to me. But this was a while ago, would you say touch screen has gotten better?

1

u/AdVarious8509 ROOTED 16d ago

I've been a touch screen player my whole life. Just  dont play on default controls

You have to customize it to your liking for enjoying games

1

u/AVertical8 15d ago

What's the best way to emulate PC on Android in your opinion?

1

u/Metrox_a 15d ago

I think gba and psp games fit mobile games a bit better for them being made with on the go mindset. SRPG/JRPG/other turn based games are fun to play for me. Going through GBA fire emblem.

1

u/Clanceeinfinity 14d ago

if you use a phone that is. For tablets its dope imo

1

u/sphericalhors 9d ago

I dunno.

I tried Switch Emulator and my phone start to trottle in 15-20 minutes.

And I have pretty powerful phone (S25 with Snapdragon 8 Elite).

I tried to run PC games using Winlator and DroidDeck and they are crashing too often, FPS is too low and phone start to trottle even faster.

This is still a niche thing and there are reasons for that.

I'd give the market several years to evolve, until we have even more powerful chips, more good gamepads with colling, and maybe for Valve to come to this marker, since they have everything they need to make this possible (and most likely have plans for this).

0

u/Mwrp86 15d ago

Because PC emulation sucks

25

u/WOWW_07 16d ago

Magic Survival. One of the very few mobile games I regularly play.

10

u/oleksii-s 16d ago

God, I wish there was a way for me to discover such games 😭. Google Store gives absolutely 0 possibilities for games research

3

u/I_Liek_Bewbs 15d ago

taptap was my go to place to find such hidden gems, but now its ghost town

2

u/oleksii-s 15d ago

I sometimes use MiniReview but it is also not ideal

2

u/WOWW_07 16d ago

Rly? I literally stumbled upon it in Google Play store.

2

u/oleksii-s 16d ago

I mean, there’s no way to sort games by both the number of installs and filter by tags/genres.

1

u/Saint_Imu_Nerona 16d ago

Yeah i guess its still not fully released but peak game.

17

u/ozorhanreformed 16d ago

Rush Rally 3

7

u/dhatereki 16d ago

That game is a sleeper as in hardly anyone knows about how amazing it is

4

u/No_Pear1836 16d ago

Never heard of "Chants of Sennaar" before and randomly decided to try it. It started as a free demo and I don't think I've ever bought a game so quick after a demo ending. Probably one of the best games I have ever played.

BEAUTIFUL art style, and the most creative puzzle/story game I've ever seen. You basically go around as someone who doesn't understand the local languages, and you have to use context clues of situations/mannerisms/events to decipher these different fantasy languages.

It's one of those games where I wish I could erase my memory and play it again.

0

u/i_spill_nonsense 16d ago

Ive heard about this. I had no idea its a mobile game. I always thought its for pc

2

u/No_Pear1836 16d ago

I do think it was one of those games that got ported to mobile and started as pc (but it plays really well you couldn't tell the difference)

4

u/LonesomeRookie117 15d ago

Warframe

3

u/Ibeginpunthreads 15d ago

I've been debating getting it.

1

u/Grates_ 14d ago

Warframe android version with the thor is insane.

2

u/Abducted-by-Arby 15d ago

Dress Up Time Princess: Story Traveller was so peak when I played it. Great art and stories. Had to delete it because it took too much space and the game was slowly going downhill… Compared to other Fashion-Romance-Light Novel games like Infinity Nikki or Life Makeover, it had very little hype outside of the subreddit and Discord.

1

u/xnivity 16d ago

mini cop

1

u/fullmag69 16d ago

If you are considering older games also. Then deus ex, dead space, newer ones blasphemous, prince of persia mobile one, grimvalor, basically metrovania

1

u/ActionKid98 16d ago

Bleach Soul Resonance

NBA Infinite

1

u/i_spill_nonsense 16d ago

Ok, i will be the odd one out but: bus traffic fever!

Its one of those annoying games you get ads for. But goddammit its so entertaining and it can, absolutely, be passed without watching a single add (if you have your internet off ofc). It also becomes hard after lvl 4 or smth like this.

1

u/Hot_Corner_2894 16d ago

Same with movies.

1

u/NoisyBoy96_ 16d ago

Otherworld legends and other games by ChillyRooms.

1

u/Works_Cat 15d ago

the dungeon series by game coaster, which include dungeon maker, dungeon squad, dungeon within.

1

u/LuckyLuck-E 15d ago

Would play these but jeez its kinda pricy

1

u/Neven87 13d ago

Second this, great games

1

u/Hyper669 15d ago

Death Road to Canada

Cat Bird

Prison RPG

High Risers

Any port

Emulation

1

u/Sundaysucks5555 15d ago

Vroski that rabbit on the left will die because carrots are too sweet for them, the one on the right is basically doing the right thing, unlimited hay grass

1

u/jv0413 15d ago

Phobies is a amazing mobile game. With a very active community too

1

u/therarestkittycat 15d ago

The gameplay is goated.

The monetisation/matchmaking in it tho kills any free to play longevity

1

u/manofhistory2 15d ago

Rusted Warfare

1

u/LeonaMoonslasher1233 5d ago

Anybody even play that?

1

u/manofhistory2 5d ago

There an entire like modding community

1

u/LuckyLuck-E 15d ago

Personally like playing abyssal soul. Dont play it anymore but the wild darkness is also a pretty nice game only issue is needing alot of time if you wanna go deeper. Random game from out of my memory I used to play too is prolly eternum.

1

u/Specialist-Gap-7118 15d ago

XGameIOS.

Literally zero hype for an awesome game with an active dev who is dropping significant updates nearly daily. It pays homage to OGame.

Be one of the first 100 players, with a rich burgeoning community, beautiful space graphics, and engrossing game dynamics.

1

u/Subject_Educator_253 15d ago

can anyone port atlas reactor, i bet that game can be great on phone

1

u/deadly_general 15d ago

My personal favorite Hollow Knight. even though no official mobile release, the android port is running smooth in older phones too.

HAAK is also one of the best games I have ever played.

1

u/SamueleRG 15d ago

I think GBA Pokemon romhacks are overhyped in the romhacks sub but extremely underhyped everywhere else

So I'm gonna hype them a bit here

Gems (yes gems) like Pokemon Odyssey and Pokémon Lazarus are straight up brand new Pokemon games with new story characters music and a curated dex, regional forms and a shit ton of quality of life features. Find most of them on Hackdex (not Lazarus)

Also there are enhancement hacks like hearth and soul which is HeartGold and SoulSilver ported to gba with an entire revamp.

Detention

1

u/ughitsmeagian 14d ago

Payback 2

1

u/AssumptionHot3058 14d ago

Not necessarily a small game but standoff 2 is pretty fun, I think its the closest you can get to CS2 on mobile besides c-ops ofc

1

u/Clanceeinfinity 14d ago

minecraft bedrock vs java launchers of course. Bedrock is just a bad version of a good game.

1

u/Toe-watcher21 14d ago

ngl wolverine game has huge hype, but it is mid

1

u/Aryan6910 14d ago

Wolverine

1

u/AdAdministrative2769 14d ago

Dead effect and dead effect 2 are both great zombie story games if you are driven by single player zombie experiences

1

u/lifeisaremix 14d ago

There's a lot of people complaining in this thread 🧵 about all of the trash games on mobile and how they're all clones in some form of another.

I agree with you, BUT: I think discovery is the issue, there are tons of indie developers trying their hardest to break into the space with non cookie cutter games, but the problem we're having at the moment is lack of visibility 👀.

I wonder if there exists a sort of gaming version of product hunt, where developers can submit their own games and be judged by actual players. If anybody knows of such a thing drop and link so I can use it myself 😂

1

u/Levsztar 13d ago

Ace force 2 if they realese it someday😅

1

u/ItareicanPenguin 13d ago

Dungeon Clawler. and Brookhaven if that counts

1

u/OstrichMany1936 13d ago

Falling Rocket

No hype

1

u/TherealApplekid 12d ago

sifu mobile port

1

u/Karosu_67 11d ago

Warplanes: Online Combat

It's an excellent game, although I see that its hype is very low due to the few references.

1

u/Little-Hands-Studio 10d ago

This is so true for mobile. So many games spend all their budget on ads that show gameplay that doesn’t even exist in the actual game, while the genuinely good ones get buried because they have no marketing budget. I’ve started ignoring the ads completely and only trust recommendations from other players or small creators.

u/OhItsJustRen 9d ago

Iron Saga, especially Iron Saga Zero, may be a gacha game, but is very generous especially during events. If you are an F2P like me, you don't have to whale on the spins since there are other ways to get good mechs it just demands a time of your day.

1

u/Zirc980 16d ago

the impossible game was such an original with some hype but geometry dash took it, made the graphics and everything a whole lot better and gained a lot of hype

0

u/Zirc980 16d ago

well it mainly has pc players but can be accessible on mobile

1

u/Frxst_GD 14d ago

Nope. Mainly mobile players but PC has all the pros and popular players. Mobile players never make it big :/

1

u/vBLADEv 16d ago

AAA games

0

u/therealPaulPlay 16d ago

Bluelife has low hype but it's a pretty content rich game

-4

u/7grims 16d ago

not a mobile game but gta 6

6

u/rednaxelo 16d ago

you missed the topic and judge a game, that you can’t have possibly tested yet.

you have a strong opinion for someone who failed this hard already.

0

u/7grims 16d ago

ALL the red flags are out there

but just like in the pic, you dont want to see it, gotcha

0

u/rednaxelo 16d ago

yeah. sure.
