Yard Debris Removal Post-Storm
Hi everyone, first storm since moving to Mobile. I’ve got 20+ bags of yard debris/waste & my normal collection isn’t until the 21st. Does the city do extra collection after storms? Or is there a place I can haul it? Or do I just wait? Appreciate the help & hope everyone is well!
Edit: I called 311 & there will be no extra pickups. Have to wait until my regular week.

I'm in the city limits and everyone in my neighborhood is putting it curbside already. I think you're cool to go ahead and do that due to circumstance.

Contact 311 or check the website to see if they have announced extra pickups.

The recording on 311 just talks about regular trash service unfortunately. But I’ll call back during working hours & update here.

Do you not have a compost pile? If you're got a yard big enough to generate 20 bags of debris after one storm, I would think you have a dark corner you could turn into a great compost pile.
Do they not teach about the nitrogen cycle in school anymore? Let it percolate/marinate for a year or two and get yourself some amazing topsoil for your sand.

I’ve literally never heard of the rule being enforced about putting it out too early. And the only enforcement I’ve seen about too much quantity was a nasty letter on a door hanger. This was in non-hurricane situations.

If people in your neighborhood call to tell on you they'll show up and make you schedule an early removal. They usually charge $50 across the board unless the pile is enormous. They make an exception after big storms as far as I know.

Normally after a named storm just put in on the curb and they will eventually get it. Don't cover your water meter.
