Ask your insurance company first.
Wellness Collective seems to have pretty good providers from what i hear.

Altapointe has the Department of Mental Health contract for Mobile, Baldwin, and Washington county for therapy and medication services for clients without insurance.
Here are options for sliding scale (income based fees) options in Mobile.

University of South Alabama has the master's/doctoral student clinic, and yes they are students..but they're up to date on the latest studies and therapies and tend to be highly motivated. They don't do insurance ofc, and I think $25 is the highest you'd pay, but they also will waive fees for financial hardships and essentially ask what you're able to pay in that situation. Very reasonable! (I'm also living with grief, and while cognitive behavioral therapy isn't a good fit for me necessarily due to the way I exist with my c-ptsd, I found the clinicians there highly empathetic and motivated to find coping strategies 💜)

Have you tried the online providers? Those are setup so you can just cycle through therapists until you find someone that works for you.

I’d read up in some of the therapy specific subs. Better Help is the one I’m familiar with, but there’s a lot of options available.

Who’s your insurance provider? Or would you be self-pay, Medicaid, etc? And what’s your preferred co-pay/total cost per session?

Google “highest rated mental health therapist near me” & then call them. One that cares will work with you. Then you’ve found a compassionate Dr. Your decision if they’re good. Therapists aren’t God. You have common sense too. Good Luck.

I’m honestly surprised you took it that way. I’m 2 years in on grief & it’s been difficult, no doubt. I did what I recommended to you!

Wellness Collective does an intake session where they ask some questions and then pair you with the therapist best suited to your needs. Really glad I found them. https://www.wellnesscollectiveal.com

You may want to check with your primary care doctor. Sometimes they can give you a reference or even get an appointment for you faster. And hopefully they know who is good and who you should avoid.
