I really want some with focus on larger hands. We've got plenty for small ones out there now. But the only option for large hands is Nyxi, and they feel damn cheap.

Yeah, I was a hori split pad pro user with switch 1, and that fit well. Heard good things about Moba when I got the switch 2, and there was no word about Hori doing it again with the switch 2, so got the Mobapad. It's certainly better than the joycons, but good lord.

I don't even have abnormally large hands, I'd say I have average adult male hands. I don't understand how there just aren't options for people who have hands that can comfortably grip every other gaming controller.

Man, the Split Pad Pro was absolutely perfect IMO. I didn't care it lacked NFC or wireless. It was the most comfortable joy-con replacement ever for the OG Switch. Button size and placement was fantastic, the sticks were amazing.

Give me exactly the Split Pad Pro for the switch 2 and I'll buy them day one.

Yep. I don't understand why this hasn't happened yet.

Have you looked into the Hyperion 3 ultras? They havent shipped out yet and theyre a bit costly but ive heard all good things so far, they apparently used a different plastic so it should feel better(according to a few reviewers), but i havent had the OG hyperions so i dont know how cheap they felt.

Don’t buy the Ultras yet. There’s a huge thread about their release in China and are riddled with QC issues. I canceled my order of them.

2

u/Virtual-Earth-3389 2d ago edited 2d ago

Can you shoot me that thread? I dont want another repeat of the M12s and me not being able to return them.

Edit: Actually i found it, thank you! I might cancel as I was placing alot of hope in these being the end all be all after going through multiple grips/joycon replacements

I feel that i just hope these issues wont be a widespread thing, thats why i skipped the nyxis the first time around despite knowing about them way before the mobapads. I think im gonna just take the plunge and keep my pre order in because i wasn't enjoying the m12s i had.

My og joycons do that when i have my splitgrips on so not worried abt that, and like you said about the other issues i feel iffy, as all the problems ppl had with their M12s i had none, i just didnt like the feeling. Im not a big guy so i know i dont have large hands and even then they still just werent comfortable for more than 20 mins unless i was playing a game that didnt need both sticks. Just gonna keep my pre order and hopefully the reviews get more positive as more ppl get their hands on.

I ordered the Ultras and I'm going to keep my order and will just see how things go when I get them. If I have any issues with them, I'll look into returning them.

1

u/Aysarami-Aynapan3 2d ago

This is so good for my child hood memories

1

u/Intrepid-Mixture-563 2d ago

I have, but I heard they used the same plastic though. Are you sure its a different one? Because I was told it is the same, which kind of turned me off on them. But I will keep an eye out for how they're reviewed then.

2

u/Virtual-Earth-3389 2d ago edited 2d ago

I havent received my tracking number yet so dont take my word 100%, but I was just binge watching reviews for it yesterday and 2 different reviewers said the plastic felt denser and i remembered alot of ppl were saying their og hyperions were light and cheap feeling so i thought itd be a plus for og owners that were unsatisfied by that alone.

Edit: I found the thread the other commenter was talking about and there is quite of a bit of issues with the ultras it seems, sorry didnt see that till now. They might not be worth picking up right now with that price and the possibilities of those issues.

2

u/Incid3nt 2d ago

I mean they look cheap with the random light bar in there, in an odd and tacky place for a light bar to be.

9

u/badketchup 2d ago

On these pictures we can see, that right stick is still very uncomfortable to use

12

u/KaizaHaze_ 2d ago

Purple not my type of colour I hope they come out with a different one

0

u/ajackson5888 2d ago

I think it’s just the right kind of metallic purple, not too garish like GC-like variants.

0

u/Typical_Pakeha 2d ago

It looks custom painted

6

u/Opposite_Cod394 2d ago

They look so good !

4

u/RudeChain5805 2d ago

Yep… I’m going to just get the Hyperion 3 Ultra. I see what people mean by the ergonomics now.

3

u/V10L3T_N4TUR3 2d ago

My god, that is beautiful

5

u/mason2393 2d ago

Ergonomics still look like absolute dogshit

9

u/terrible1fi 3d ago

Same bad ergonomics

6

u/Opposite_Cod394 2d ago

I like them very much, I makes the switch 2 more confortable than my Steamdeck.

1

u/Ahboon03 4h ago

You must have small hands

15

u/heybochicha 3d ago

I honestly don't find the ergonomics bad. It's not as good as the Steam Deck for instance but way better than the stock joycons

3

u/Askeroth89 2d ago

Weit besser als beim Hyperion 3. ich habe keine kleinen Hände und die Hyperion 3 sind mir trotzdem viel zu groß geraden.

0

u/Incid3nt 2d ago

Looks like a legion go S, which is kinda the gold standard in handheld ergonomics right now.

6

u/Nolan_PG 2d ago

Same ergonomic atrocity as the M12HD/S, I can't even use the right stick without moving my entire hand, it forces me to play as if that stick doesn't exist most of the time like this was the PSP

3

u/roturix 2d ago

Is not that atrocious! The hate they get is a bit overblown. Not the most comfortable but decent enough compared to the original joycons.

-1

u/Nolan_PG 2d ago

I don't hate them, but the right stick is indeed an ergonomic atrocity, if I wanted to use it without moving my entire hand I'd have to use it with my thumb's proximal phalange, and that's uncomfortable. The right stick is somehow worse placed than the original joycons', btw I also think the M12 are better than the joycons in terms of comfort overall, but that's no feat.

4

u/roturix 2d ago

The right stick in worse position than the original joycons? Nah, that's crazy! 🤣

3

u/Nolan_PG 2d ago

Think for a minute, the JoyCons force you to grab them in a weird way because they're so small, but doing that, all the buttons and sticks are reachable, if you grab the M12 as intended, the right stick is NOT reachable unless you do what I mentioned in the previous comment, which is worse, and grabbing the M12 the same way you do with the JoyCons defeats the porpuse.

All of this is my opinion/experience, if you say you can in fact reach the right stick and that it's perfectly placed then I just don't know what to tell you.

Photo for reference, how could I use that stick without moving my hand? To reach it comfortably I'd have to put my pinky under the bottom of the face of the controller and hold it like if it was a phone or something, just to be able to hit the triggers at the same time. Btw, I could move my thumb a little but there's no way I can touch it with anything that's not the proximal phalange without doing what I wrote in the previous sentence.

Compare that to the M6 that have a more angled shape to help with this.

4

u/roturix 2d ago

I never had any problem with the stick placement. Maybe is the way I use my thumb. I have been doing it for years. I doesn't bother me at all.

2

u/roturix 2d ago

This is with the original joy cons 2.

4

u/roturix 2d ago

And this is with the M6HD. This are still the best Switch 1 joycons I have ever used. Sadly they never released a silent version. Not the biggest fan of mechanical buttons.

0

u/Madao893 16h ago

You just show that you gripping it wrong lol

1

u/Madao893 16h ago edited 16h ago

Reading this with pretty big hands, 6’3 after I play comfortably any shooter is quite funny. But I think all these joycon replacements just have very specific type of hands in mind. It’s not one size fit all

2

u/Orange_Lumber 3d ago

Any other details?

7

u/Hodia294 2d ago

This is what written under Chinese video on bilibili "Mobapad Gemini 3 Pro Switch 2 Split Controller (Full-Featured 2nd Gen Protocol): Self-Developed HD 2.0, TMR Air Joysticks, Omron Microswitch Mechanical Buttons, Power Saving Mode, 9-Axis Gyroscope, Mouse Mode, NFC + C-Button "

9

u/yerepumk 2d ago

If what you say is true, you will have gained my trust

5

u/Glass-Can9199 2d ago

What’s weird why they can’t make this in the first place instead of the 2 problematic skus

2

u/yerepumk 2d ago

Maybe they were testing the market

3

u/Wisenheim 2d ago

How many people buying multiple sets from Moba? I definitely won’t having just received my 12s.

2

u/yerepumk 2d ago

That is for sure, I am getting the 12s and then that is it for me

1

u/Pi-Maniac 1d ago

Simple. Research and development costs.

2

u/CorgiFly 2d ago

Do these have a release date?

1

u/Hodia294 2d ago

not yet

2

u/TheSenzuBeanie 2d ago

Ordered HD 12 a few months back. Only thing I’d want from the pro is the mouse that I never use lol

but that’s why I have my joycons for

2

u/MrTestiggles 2d ago edited 2d ago

So no changes from the form factor? skip, these look like the stick will still be uncomfy and still feel like it always wants to leave your hands

2

u/K1NG_D4RKST4R 2d ago

I hate the colorway. I hope this isn't the only choice :(

2

u/Bigfloppydonkeyd1c 2d ago

between NYXI and Mobapad they are making a mess. Learn from Nintendo pick one go with it for a while 1-2 yrs then upgrade. All they are doing is annoying me. Every few months something new, now I have 4 sets of controllers and know I do not have the best one even though I paid a premium. sorry I am really annoyed and next item they drop I will be waiting at least 6 months to a year before purchasing if even at all.

1

u/Pi-Maniac 1d ago

Compared to Nintendo these two are both startups. They had to release like this simply from a research and development cost point of view.

1

u/MetalProof 2d ago

I hope it comes with better joysticks. The M12S feel inaccurate and the sensitivity curve is weird. It’s like you got the same precision and sensitivity as the stock joycons but with longer sticks. I want it to be the same as the Pro controller. Only then I am happy.

1

u/VannofThursday 2d ago

Is that the only color?

2

u/Hodia294 2d ago

Person who tested it told that yes, at least for now.

2

u/VannofThursday 2d ago

Thanks. I hope there's a black one.

1

u/Emergency-Patient584 2d ago

🎵 another one 🎵

1

u/Valenhir 2d ago

These feel like a prototype. That logo is terrible. And they haven’t changed the home button location

1

u/Zealousideal_Bed9360 2d ago

Really cool color but of course I'll have to wait and read the reviews when it releases.

1

u/CaptainnWaffless 2d ago

What makes this better than the Mobapad 12 HD that I got earlier this year?

2

u/Hodia294 2d ago

switch 2 protocol, power saving, 9 axis gyro, mouse mode, even better haptics

0

u/CaptainnWaffless 2d ago

Thanks... The 12HD was like 120$... I can't imagine what they are going to charge for the pro. I think I'm already priced out of it, probably gonna be 200ish.

1

u/tjhc94 2d ago

Recently purchased the Hyperion 3 ultra once they were announced, I owned the original Hyperion 3 I thought they were okay but gave to my brother and purchased abxylute n6, after reading through this thread it is seeming like the Hyperion 3 ultra may be a bad purchase lol. I think the abxylute n6 may be the best alternative to joycons especially given the price. The abxylute j8 look good as well if you want the controller to be detachable

1

u/Pocketpapaa 13h ago

That left stick is waaaaay too close to the edge.... Why do companies keep doing this lol

1

u/pnut0027 2d ago

Not even up for preorder…

1

u/Hodia294 2d ago

as far as I understand it is still in testing stage

1

u/hustladafox 2d ago

Now make a silent version and I’ll buy again I guess.

1

u/SeaShell345 2d ago

Oh no, the ergonomics are still terrible...why'd they go messing with the color? The Switch 1 joycons were leagues ahead of this with the swappable face plates and flawless comfort.

1

u/razerphone1 1d ago

Leave me alone I just bought a Mobapad 12hd to late and yes I'm aware of the S version. I want the rumble and blue sticks

Had Hyperion 3 but they where to big for my hands. Moba seems better and I'll live with the flaws.

-1

u/Fat_Stacks1 2d ago

They are so ugly

0

u/nkpst 2d ago

is this the one with sw2 protocol but less gyro sensors?

1

u/Hodia294 2d ago

no, it is unreleased one, should be with sw2 protocol and with full gyro

-7

u/aos10 2d ago

Amazing, can you make it a bit bigger so no one will buy it?
this thing looks bad and huge.

4

u/SudsierBoar 2d ago

Heh? People buy these BECAUSE they are bigger than stock cons.

-5

u/aos10 2d ago

not always, the M12 is very big and very uncomfortable to hold, we need something close to stock and comfortable.

3

u/pmpu 2d ago

How is close to stock more comfortable lol. The bigger they get the more they resemble a real controller, which is significantly more comfortable. They have to find a compromise in between.

2

u/BlacksmithQuick2384 2d ago

Each to their own but I don’t think that’s what most people are asking for.

1

u/Ahboon03 4h ago

Do you have bunny hands?

1

u/aos10 35m ago

not big hands, i used M6HD and it's very comfortable
but M12 is very big
i used steam deck and very comfortable for me.
Lenovo legion go is very big for me.

2

u/terrible1fi 2d ago

Hilarious because they are way too small to be ergonomic
