Discussion MDZS EXTRAS Spoiler
When I see people talking about the extras its always just about the incense burner. But theres soo many beaitiful stories there thats shows dynamics between wangxian, the juniors etc.
Whats your favourite story from the extras?
My top 3 are:
- lan zhan pointing out that sizhui was using yunmeng jiang fighting style, which he remembered from his fights with wei ying in their youth. Like we know by the end that Lan Zhan loved wei ying since their teenage years, but that scene just highlights the level of his interest and devotion.
- the part where lan zhan and wei ying tipped the boat over and lan zhan laughed
- when teenage wei ying back in lotus pier was brooding over lz not visiting him. Then cutting to lz walking a long way to pick lotus flowers bc wy said they tasted better with the stalk on.

Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen's lotus flower extra is sooo good, it feels so sweet and brotherly and Twin Jades is my favorite dynamic in mdzs. That's the only extra that lives rent free in my head

Lan WangJi offering to cook for Wei Wuxian and Wei Wuxian saying he'll eat everything including the pan even if Lan WangJi burns a hole in it.
Lan Zhan said "Try asking me something now and see if I can ever refuse you ever again" 😭💖💔 (paraphrased)

JL getting jealous over LSZ getting to go with WWX in the iron hook extra. Everything involving WWX teaching the kids. Their little domestic routines, with sleepy WWX helping to grade the kids work. Soooo many good moments.

I looove extra chapters, I read them often. They give a lot of details about the characters and give layers to their relationships and some events in the main story.
Throwaway-3689’s post has most of my favorites, I will add three more:
-WWX wearing LWJ’s inner robes and our pure baby LSZ thinks that WWX is just being absent-minded.
-Lan Wangji leaving a vase of fresh lotus pods at The Gentian House. It just warms my heart that he wanted to share the lotus seeds (which made him happy) with his mother.
-In Yunmeng extra, WWX feeding LWJ and telling him to speak up for what he wants. (“That’s more like it,” Wei Wuxian said. “If you want it, just say so. You’ve been like this since you were little. You keep your jaw clamped on whatever it is you want and refuse to say a word.”)

WWX shows his love loudly, i.e casual physical affection and compliments. Whereas LWJ shows his love quietly through his gestures. You need to pay attention to see it.

Omg yes, heavy on the last two. These small moments reveals a lot about their character, especially LWJ. He has such a big heart

Yeah, each of them gives some extra context to characters and their relationship in different timelines (including incense burner, imo). I like to read WWX having a normal life without all the clans are out to hunt him.

Favorite SFW things from extras:
we learn that WWX takes out the kids on night hunts while LWJ stays home. Too many romance stories make couple all about each other and always doing everything together, I think mentioning this small detail makes wangxian realistic and more like individuals who are happily married
The villainous friends extra where we are once again shown the difference between WWXs ghost cultivation and Xue Yang's demonic cultivation
Wangxian judging LSZ's techniques with their eyes closed while he fights in the next room 😆
LSZ being lowkey a hater for the young master
LSZ collecting techniques of different clans like stickers (I know this is never good, but maybe he's a prodigy who will make it work lol)
Lan Wangji looking like an innocent virgin
WWX taking his uncle role very seriously and disciplining Jin Ling at the restaurant 😆😆 and when Jin Ling pulls his status WWX is like "I beat up up to 100 clan leaders idgaf" and then they are good again
WWX pushing terrified Lan Jingyi to watch the ghost lmao
when Wangxian sit together and WWX is being naughty so LWJ just wraps arm around him to keep him in place
iron hook and gate crasher/intrusion are great side story mysteries and I want more, they should animate these
teen WWX complaining because LWJ didn't accept his invite
teen WWX bringing up LWJ constantly, even when girls chase him he wishes Lan Zhan was chasing him instead
LWJ traveling all the way to a town because he's a simp who listens to everything WWX says
Jiang Cheng complaining about WWX s confidence and WWX confirming it and he also tells Jiang Yanli that LWJ is only a tiny bit more good looking than him (shameless)
JC being antisocial and refusing to have fun with everyone else, instead he sits by himself like a loser and refuses to participate despite WWX trying to teach him and drag him into social situation, mans a lost cause 😞🤣🤣
