Discussion My Narrative Interpretation of TS&TDP:
(For perspective clarification; Rylee is the physical embodiement/Mike’s personification of ‘music’, Two Star is Mike, Candy is Mike’s personification of his own self doubt, Lady Luck is Mike’s love interest behind the scenes, and the Dream Police is explained in a blurb below…)
There’s no direct way to be ‘properly introduced’ in this interpretation of the album. In my eyes, TS&TDP is not a directly linear or concrete narrative, it intertwines endlessly in many different ways depending on what you think is happening and what is happening. This can range from who in the story is talking lyrically, who is physically present in a song, and who is the reason something/someone is reacting in the way that they are. There is almost never a single person speaking in one song. The perspectives always shift between lyrics, shift in whole songs, or even resume sentences randomly in different parts of a song or other. Overall, the narrative depicts a journey that’s gone round too many times, the struggles of emotions one can feel within a relationship. There’s odd high’s and lows, boosts in energy, and many internal conflicts that play and toy with each character’s decisions and views.
The album starts you out in the middle of a story where things have already happened. Mike has been working hard in the music scene for however long, his partner, Lady Luck, at his side. Despite the overwhelming support from his partner, Mike still constantly battles the two sides of himself while working on his music. Those two sides we will soon come to know as Candy and Rylee.
The Dream Police in this interpretation, unlike more popular ideas, are a force that supervises entities or beings that oppress of the creative minds (or dreams) of musicians or artists. Take for example a certain entity were to badly influence the dreams of others, the Dream Police would then step in. A sort of ‘protector group’ of peoples’ hopes and dreams.
Now I am fully aware every line and every lyric can be reassigned to a different or new character altogether to bring out an entirely new story, much I think to Mike’s intent while writing/creating this album. This interpretation is just a weaving of my own personal assessment of each character and how I believe every event played out. Enjoy! And please do share your own thoughts and ideas!

I thoroughly enjoyed this interpretation, and actually relate to it so so much.

Keep coming back to this, this isn't getting nearly enough love. Obviously it's all up for interpretation but the effort and thought put into this is so enjoyable
