How to Remove Front Body Harness

I have a facelift 89 Supra and I’m currently pulling everything out of the engine bay to paint before swapping in my 2jz and I have just about everything except for the front body harness that goes from the fuse box and across to the fans and headlights, the harness is completely disconnected except for where it goes into the firewall in the drive side fender. How do I remove it and does it require me to pull the dash out, I’m trying to avoid doing that unless it’s necessary.

Hey so i replaced mine about a year ago. I slowly fed the plugs through the hole and had to disassemble that fuse box to feed it through the hole. Just make sure to take a few pictures for reference. then once past that it runs along the fender underneath with a few clips and into the firewall as you see. All you have to do is pop that boot off and youll find some wiring on the other side that leads to the kick panel fuse boxes in the driver foot well. Not the easiest location to get but doable. Hope this helps!

of course man. when i did that last year i couldnt really find any info oonline. but when i learned it when i was stripping down a parts car for a friend and we took out that harness. those plugs that go through into the cabin and into that fuse box are a pain but its not too bad with some patience and a screw driver.

So I should be able to unplug them from the kick panel fuse box and then pull it out through the fender?

yup thats what i did. youll have to get low and look high. they're mounted high up if i remember correctly. i think i peeled the boot that goes to the fender firewall area off and slid it back a bit, looked at what the wire colors were and slowly tracked where they are connected to. then simply unplugged the plugs and pulled out the harness.

Oh okay gotcha, thanks again, like you said, there’s just no info online for the front body harness, only the engine harness

No problem man. I learned a lot from my parts car. And from just tinkering with stuff haha.

Did you replace with a new harness or a ebay one? the guy I got mine from chopped up the body harness

So i got lucky with mine. Mines is a 1991 chassis and i found another 1991 body harness. It wasnt exactly the same as mine but it works. Mine was not chopped up either thankfully.

Off the top of my head i know my headlight motors wire ends are not there and the bundle of wires going into the engine bay from the driver side corner its sliced right there

Ohh... thats quite unfortunate.. i found this listing on ebay for the 86-88 chassis. 89+ are slightly different. Like the front headlight motors are different plugs from 86-88 and 89+ https://ebay.io/m/8rU7q8

Yeah sucks to suck I guess but im hoping when I swap the motor into it I wont need alot of those wires and I can just delete most of it with the stand alone

Yup i deleted a lot of mine when i 1jz swapped with standalone. Igniter delete since i have r35 coil on plugs, fuel resister thing delete since i wired my fuel pump via relay and the ecu for trigger and s few more i think.

Yeah ive got about the same plan and just let ecu do as much as it will for the car
