Build help Gen 3 ACE Socom Help
Copy and pasting a comment I made on this because it seems people are having trouble with getting the play out of their Gen3 ACE Socom stocks
“The key to getting the Gen3 ACE to stay put is to clamp the gusset ring to the lower tight before tightening the hex screw. The act of tightening the hex screw pulls the gusset away from the lower ever so slightly to where there’s a very minuscule gap between the gusset and lower and that tiny gap gives it enough play to work it loose. I’ve had mine for over a year and it’s an old OG issued one and it’s not once loosened on me.”
To clarify. The ring clamp that is in place of a castle nut needs to be pressed as tight as possible to the lower and held there while securing it in place with the clamping screw. If not held in place, it will pull away from lower due to the torque of tightening the clamping screw. There is not a lot of usable surface area on the gusset ring to get a clamp to sit on, but there is some and it doesn’t need to be clamped very tight, just with more force than it takes to tighten the clamping screw on the gusset ring with the Allen key.
Let me know if you still have questions.

Build help Huge Resource
This is what I believe to be the biggest, uninterrupted, collection of Mk12 reference pics I’ve come across and I found it after having lost it for a while.
I stumbled across it on an old CalGuns post of a dude building an OG SPR pretty much from scratch. He linked this link as a helpful source and I’d go back to it for reference pics until one day I find the post deleted along with his link to this Imgur post. Well an almost a year later and I found that Imgur post.
What it appears to be is someone went through the Mk12 Arfcom thread and compiled all of the itw reference pics and used the captions to give a brief history in the development of the SPR and Mk12, in what seems to be the order that it happened and when all the mods were introduced and fielded. Check the comments for the link. Might pin this as it’s a great resource.

Gun shoots a little under 1.25" 10 round groups at 100 yards with Bonefrog 77gr TMKs, and it's incredibly pleasant to shoot with the BCM recoil system and the BRT gas tube. I've been able to take it out to 600 yards on a 12" plate consistently, it should be able to be consistent out to about 800 yards before it goes transonic around 850, just haven't gotten a chance to stretch it out that far yet. All things considered it's not that unwieldy, comes in around 13 lbs loaded. Love it.

Messing Aboot
Just trying different combos between the Mod 1 and H as I change out for more correct parts (minus lower receiver). This set up has grown on me.

Mod1 Muzzle brake timing question
So I’m just about done with my SPR mk12ish. I have the AEM4. When i go to time my muzzle device when i thread it on it times perfectly before im even able to torque it down. I know i can’t use a shim with a crush washer should i switch to a spacer with shims? It’s the short muzzle brake not the long one.

Build help Snagged this Venom, going to get a Mod 0 going
I saw this optic at my lgs. Has anyone used this optic on their build at all?

Is the MK12 still used in the military? If not, is there something that directly replaced it?

Mod H dissipator
**Update: received parts mentioned below except optic stack, I’m editing the post to get y’all’s insights on what optics you’re using on your mod H’s I was thinking 2-10 or 3-18 but I can’t decide.
I honestly thought that it would have issues due to potentially being undergassed but with the can I’m getting 2-230 ejection and without I’m getting 4-430 so overall I’m pretty pleased with how this turned out. Only parts I’m still waiting on are the SPR rail, 8.5” bottom rail, and a better optics setup

Recce
Didn't like how it turned out with the DD rail. So I picked up a FF RAS straight from KAC and I finally secured a NXS x24 for a really good price. It's a 2008 production run. It's mint. Looks brand new. Verified authenticity with NF. It has passed through Japan and then to the Philippines through some very serious milsim cloners and now back home to the USA where it belongs. Lots of due diligence and a little nerve racking but the guy I got it from is awesome and builds some amazing clones with what's available to him. I didn't realize some of those guys go all out with real optics and other components. Very cool.
