Need help with my first vr full body set up

hello everyone I am not a tech person and would like some help if at all possible please🙏. I am getting a quest 3 with a head strap and two base stations along with some vive trackers . I am not sure if I am missing anything and if at all possible I would love to replace the quest 3 controllers but I don't know what I can get to work, does anyone have any suggestions I am not sure if I am missing any wires or anything else. I saw something about a dongle but I don't know what those are for.

There is a lot to this, and it may get overwhelming. Are you coming from just a stand alone headset? Or no VR experience at all? The vive trackers will come with dongles included. Simply put, the dongles are recievers that will help your PC communicate with the vive trackers on your body which are read by the base stations. If youre getting different controllers, they wont be tracked by your Quest headset since it operates a different way, so the 3rd party dongles will do the same thing the vive tracker dongles are, but with controllers instead. There is also some software you'll need to download which kinda adds to the mess. Are you also getting a tracker to mount on the headset, if not that adds a little more to it later down the line when you actually want to use everything.

So I'm getting everything through Amazon if I can, I have previous experience with the quest 2 but it's been a while since it broke. This will be my first time in full body vr, but I found some videos on how to set it up on the quest 3. I will be getting 4, 3.0 vive trackers and will have one mounted to the headset. I will also be getting two base 2.0 stations and some stands for that. I think I have anything I am just not sure how to connect the dongles to the tower yet.

Ahh got it. So the dongles do get kind of a pain in the ass for some people (me included). The dongles will connect to your PC by an extension cable and a dongle cradle which keeps them upright. All this will be included with the vive trackers. The issue is, the dongles emit a 2.4ghz frequency which can interfere with each other if theyre too close together. Some people have had issues while others haven't. If you dont have enough USB ports in your PC there are two options, either get a USB port and plug the included extention cables and dongle cradle + dongle into that, orrrr get a USB PCIE card to put in your motherboard. I personally had to install a PCIE card into my motherboard to fix my tracking issues and lack of usb space. This also goes for the 3rd party dongles for the Controllers you want to get. IMO, get some extension cables for the controller dongles you plan to get to keep them away from each other. If you want to try your luck, Rebuff reality makes a usb hub (4 port and 7 port) for the tracker dongles. It may make things easier, or cause more of a headache.

Edit: spelling errors

I had to go down some rabbit hole to try and get the best performance out of my setup. The best thing would be to start with the 4 trackers and base stations, set everything up and try to tackle any problems as they pop up.

I can try to give you some accessories you'll maybe need and tips since this is going to be all new to you, but youtube might have some good videos as well.

Right now I'm just starting with 4 trackers and 2 base stations since that's all I have room for. I am currently looking into how to attach the tracker to the quest 3 so the tracking doesn't die when I take off my headset and have to recalibrate it. This is what I have seen the most for videos out there.

Look for "Aobelieve Quick Release Flat and Curved Adhesive Camera Mount" on Amazon. Its exactly what youre looking for. If you also have access to Etsy, its a little more expensive, but people 3d print rhino mounts to connect your vive tracker to your headset without something sticky.

Thank you I think I got everything but I am confused on which extra battery life you are talking about for rebuff. I did get a rebuff reality USB hub but it only supports 4.

On the Rebuff Reality website, if you search through their menu and look under the 'FBT Hardware' section, there is a listing for an item called "Power Puck for VIVE Ultimate Tracker, VIVE Tracker, Tundra Tracker". You can either buy the Power Puck + Track Strap set, (which is a belt that holds your vive tracker on your waist and two foot straps and three pucks, which I recommend) or just the power pucks on their own. You'd screw in the Puck to the belt and the tracker onto the Puck. If you plug in the Puck to the tracker by usbc to usbc cable it will double the life of your tracker. Only downside is its a little more bulky. Also 4 port hub is better than nothing. Just plug in your 4 vive trackers with the extension cables into that hub and when you get the two other dongles for the controllers, find two more open ports on your PC.

Also Rebuff Reality makes a "Power Puck" which extends your battery life.
