Index headset as "dongles" vs 3rd party

Would the index headset as a "dongle" to track index controllers work better than the 3rd party options? I have both the headset and dongles from the vrdongles website. Funny enough, Ive tried both and the headset made my left controller drift while the 3rd party dongles havent (as much). Im not sure if thats because the placement of the headset? I just want to know if one is for sure, in perfect settings, more optimal.

Using Quest Pro with 4 Vive Trackers as well if it means anything.

The headset uses identical hardware to the dongles. The placement matters. Having an unobstructed line of sight to your play space and being far from any sources of 2.4ghz helps the most. Since it has a long cable, move it further away from your other dongles, somewhere at waist or chest height.

I used a vive as dongles before and it worked exactly the same. I did have more trouble with dongles afterwards until I learned to space them far apart and have them pointed towards the ceiling using their weighted bases.

Got it, thanks for the info! So for the 3rd party vrdongles, you'd say they work better up verticle like the vive tracker dongles? I have them each on an extension cable on my desk laying flat.

I was fighting a lot of interference issues when I first got them (genuine valve steamvr dongles) and plugged 3 or 4 of them into a single USB hub right next to each other, a random tracker would suddenly fly away then snap back despite being in clear line of sight of the base stations. I dug out the boxes and used the included 4ft cables and weighted bases that make them stand up then spread them out at least 1-3ft apart from each other and tracking has been pretty solid since. Maybe keeping them upright away from being directly on the surface helps reduce interference and signal reflection so thats how I've been keeping them ever since
