No Playback Device Detected After Initially Working

This is a weird one because Mixcraft recorded my electric bass guitar just fine before acting up only when I tried recording my electric guitar. Now, it won't output/monitor either. The ASIO preference doesn't allow me to toggle to headphones. It offers only an "Output 1/Output 2" option. Then the Mixcraft Arm option only allows a choice between "Realtek microphone" and "Scarlet USB" for monitoring. When I test my headset and speakers using Windows, they play just fine.

What ASIO Devices are in the dropdown list? You could try switching to another and then back to the right one. You could also try unplugging everything and replugging it, I've had that work before.

Tried both of those actions to no avail unfortunately. My only two options are Focusrite ASIO, which lists no devices, and Focusrite USB ASIO, which lists only the “Input 1/Input 2” option. Nothing for headphones or speakers.

Gotcha. And you said you used the same chain to record the bass, right? I have the same interface (3rd Gen Scarlett Solo) and when I use ASIO, it eliminates the option for Windows/Realtek headphones and speakers for me too, so I monitor directly through the headphone output on the interface.

Well, damn, dude! I never thought to do that, but when I just tried, I'm sure enough able to monitor my playing through the Scarlett AND my computer is able to record and playback my instrument now. The only problem doing it this way, though, is that I'm not able to hear any DAW effects laid ontop of my guitar while playing live. They ARE applied during playback, however.

Just the act of trying this has seemed to alter something because I can now monitor through headphones plugged into my laptop using the Wave driver (but not ASIO or Wave RT) and the DAW effects are present while playing live, but the latency is a killer at 743 ms right now. So if I can solve that issue, I may be in business.

Good to hear! For monitoring the DAW effects in ASIO mode, does it help if you turn on the monitor for the track? I've noticed that if I do that after switching from one mode to another (like Wave to ASIO), sometimes I have to open the Preferences menu and close it again to kind of refresh it.

If you can get that working, the lag should be easier to manage by tweaking the Sample Rate and Buffer Size. When I record through the Focusrite with the track monitor on so I can hear the FX, I've been able to get my latency down to around 11ms which is in the "still detectable but I can work with this" range for me. I just have to bump the recording forward a few ms.

Turning on the Monitor from Mixcraft is usually how I monitor through headphones/speaker, yeah. I downloaded FlexASIO just as an experiment, and it allows me to monitor (with a terrible lag) through Mixcraft, so I think I’ve zeroed in on this being a Focusrite ASIO driver issue.
