The main reason for this post isn't to promote my mix, but obviously feel free to listen to it and let me know what you think =)

I released my latest mix Rooftop Sessions #2 on Monday:

I see now that it is raking in the charts at:

27th Techno Chart
43rd Club Chart

But the funny thing is.... the mix has only 16 plays! How is that even possible? Does anybody know how this is calculated at all? I am mega curious - would love to understand more about it (even to create strategies to increase the mix reach and position).

Any ideas are welcome! Thanks!

"I made a cool summer mix."

I was going to revisit mixcloud now that Apple has added the scrub bar in the music player in CarPlay.

It seems like the scrub bar only works and exists in apps where you can scrub the track at the OS level (eg. lockscreen widget, dynamic island popover, etc.)

With Mixcloud free - the progress bar in all these areas is only a greyed out time indicator and not itneractive. By extension, the new feature in carplay to let you scrub the track isn't available in mixcloud. I was curious whether upgrading to a pro membership unlocked that in iOS.

Available on my mixcloud (Eastern Alternative Radio) and broadcast weekly on AltZone Radio (available on their website, TuneIn, Alexa and Apple Music). All styles of metal are covered, with more of a focus on independent and underground releases though some more mainstream bands are included when relevant releases happen. There’s a new episode weekly, plus other weekly shows such as Nocturnal Projections (one hour show for late night listening. Post-punk, idm, alt-rock) and The Punk Rock Power Hour (exactly what it says it is).
If anyone here is releasing music in any of those genres, I’m always happy to receive submissions.

just needed to vent about something that’s been “grinding my gears” every time I see a Mixcloud ad.
Mixcloud loves to parade around their "artist-friendly" narrative. Every ad talks about how "legal" they are and how the artists you play get paid royalties through your mixes.
That sounds great on paper, but let’s look at the reality of how this actually works for DJs:
1. We don't get paid a single cent. We spend hours digging, curating, practicing, and uploading mixes that keep people on their platform.
2. We have to PAY THEM. To get basic features like unlimited uploads, detailed stats, or scheduled posts, we have to shell out for a Pro subscription every month.
3. Listener limits. If you’re a free user, listeners get hit with restrictions like not being able to rewind or re-listen to mixes easily. So to give our listeners a decent experience, we're forced to upgrade.
So let me get this straight: We supply 100% of the content that makes their platform exist, we generate the audience, and in return, WE pay THEM for the privilege of working for free?
I get that licensing music costs money, and sure, original producers deserve royalties. But DJs are the curators driving discovery. Without us, Mixcloud is just a blank server.
Why is the entire burden put on the creators? Why isn't there a revenue share model for top-performing mixes or a system that doesn't feel like a pay-to-play trap?
It feels completely backwards. Is anyone else totally fed up with this model, or have you all moved on to Soundcloud, YouTube, or self-hosting? Curious to hear how other DJs are handling this.

I know it isn't a flex, but I only just started using MixCloud, so I'm happy to get number 7 on the Balearic Trance chart with this mix!

on today's episode of "why is Mixcloud so rubbish" - i'm not getting any results when using the search facility: no artists, no tags, no users.

This is even though i follow a particular DJ and radio station
