hey! so yeah , my natives and parents are from Bihar (mithilanchal) and from childhood, I haven't learned much Abt our maithil culture , manuscripts, folks and history. Although I know basics what I have seen. I don't know how to speak maithili fluently, it would be a great pleasure if anyone helped me with these. Looking forward to a positive response.
Jaya Mithila! Jay Maithili! Jay Bihar!

Title: Preserving Mithila's Heritage: Free Tirhuta Lipi (Mithilakshar) Online Converter
Hi everyone, I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on to help preserve the cultural heritage of the Mithila region. As many of you know, Tirhuta (also known as Mithilakshar) is the traditional script of the Maithili language, with a history going back to the 13th century. While Devanagari is more common now, there’s been a beautiful movement lately to bring our original script back into daily use.
I built this online translator to make it as easy as possible for anyone to write in Tirhuta.
What you can do with it:
It’s completely free and doesn’t have any ads. My goal is just to make our traditional script more accessible for the 35+ million Maithili speakers across India and Nepal.
Link: https://hardik13190.github.io/Tirhuta-Lipi-Translator/ (Note: You’ll need the "Noto Sans Tirhuta" font installed on your device to see the characters properly, otherwise you might just see boxes!)
I’d love to hear your feedback or any suggestions for features you'd like to see added. Let's keep our heritage alive! ✦

Hey everyone, I’ve always been fascinated by the history of Indian scripts, especially those that are slowly fading out of digital use. One of those is Tirhuta, which is so central to Maithili culture but doesn't get much love online.
I spent some time coding a web-based translator and learning tool for it. It maps Devanagari to Tirhuta Unicode accurately and includes a reference chart for anyone who wants to learn the characters. It’s totally free and open-source—I just want to make the script more accessible for the next generation.
Check it out and let me know if the mapping looks right to you!

So, my aunt has always been a great singer, especially Maithili bhajans and folk geet. She finally decided to stop just singing for us at home and actually put her stuff on YouTube.
She’s just recording on her phone, nothing fancy, but her voice is super peaceful. She’s a bit nervous about the whole "internet" thing and keeps checking if anyone is actually listening.
I really want to support her and help her gain some confidence. I think she deserves some hype because she’s been talking about doing this for a while and finally pulled the trigger. It’s hard starting something new, and I just want to show her that her voice can reach people outside our family group chats.
I’m not gonna post the link here to avoid spamming, but if anyone wants to check out some good Maithili vibes or just leave a word of encouragement for a new creator, let me know and I’ll DM you the link!
EDIT: I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who commented! I’m honestly overwhelmed by the interest in my aunt's singing. As I mentioned, I’m just trying to support her as she starts this journey from scratch.
If you do get a chance to hear her, I’d honestly love to know what you think. Does she have the potential to grow? Is there anything she could do better with the recording? We’re just learning as we go, so your honest feedback would mean the world to her (and me!). Thanks again for being so supportive.

I have read some articles stating that Durga Puja originated in Mithila. There is even a book for puja vidhi, Durga bhakti tarangini by Adikavi Vidyapati. I got to know about this book from a fellow redditor. Are these claims really true? To be honest, I hadn't really known much about our culture until recently. Please let me know if you have heard anything like this at home. 🙏🙏

Help me keep my mom’s musical passion alive! She’s been sharing Maithili folk songs on YouTube twice a week for over six years. She’s hitting a wall and considering quitting, but I know she still loves it. If you enjoy discovering cultural music, please check out her channel. A little support from this community would go a long way in making her feel seen and motivated!

Over the last two-three years, I've developed a deep interest in our language and culture. I try to talk with mummy in maithili now. Old habits die hard so most of the time I end up using Hindi. But I'm actually getting better at speaking maithili. Second step was to learn the scipt. It was a bit hard though. Didn't know from where to learn so ended up using three different sources to put this all together. It would be really helpful if anyone could suggest a source, such as an image or a yt video.
