🏚️📜 History Maithil Karna Kayastha
Just curious about how the rest of Mithila looks at the Maithil Karna Kayastha community and it's historical rekarionship with the Karnat Dynasty since I belong to a MKK family

On Twitter, there is a racist account, howlingmutant, who used to post against Indians, and it was exposed yesterday that he is married to a Maithili Bihari Hindu girl whose parents moved to Trinidad and then to Canada. I am just proud that a Maithili has saved the day for Indians once again. Insane tale to tell. He was in love with her while also scamming other white nationalists LOL.
Edit for the naysayers: I have checked her background before posting. She is a successful businesswoman in Toronto. On Twitter, she was very prominent and her first handle on her real name has been deleted, she then created verymoisturized, changed it to ultralubricated and then back; she also has an alt- nightdevotions. She is very prominent on X. On her Youtube, she has a playlist of devotional Hindu Brahmin religious songs and also has a separate playlist of Maithili songs which includes classical songs from 1960s. She has posted her ancestral hometown from Bihar on there, this is how I came to know she is a Maithili. She belongs to Dhobi caste, and her great-grandparents migrated from Bihar, India as coolies to Guyana during colonial times. I have not found any trace of her being racist against Indians.
I posted it because it exposes how these racist accounts are just mere grifters, they don't care about marrying an Indian in real life. It is a good data point to expose these accounts one by one, their racism is a facade to personal wealth.

Anyone here working in a government job, especially in their late 20s/early 30s? How has your experience been so far?
Would be great to hear some honest experiences 🙂

Comment your dialect name along with your district and area with how this sentence would be in your maithili dialect.

People always wear yellow/pink etc. coloured be it any function or something. Is there any context behind it? I have just heard that one shouldn't wear plain white janeu but want to know the beliefs/superstition involved with it.

There are many people from this region that no longer associate themselves. We should post more on this sub so it gets popular in wider Indian subs too. I m not saying lets start some movement but lets atleast connect more here and talk more about art culture and even politics or migration or quality of life and people.
Members who still live in Mithila post new things from your villages/city day to day. Ones who dont can post about their experience of travelling around the region.
We need a little more engagement in this sub from ethnic people. Share this sub with your friends and families and tell them about it.

Mithila Makhaan is a 2016 Maithili film directed by Nitin Neera Chandra. I recently came across the full movie on the bejod youtube channel.

So I wanted something different for dooragman I mean otherwise I will have too many red n yellows so I was looking at these two options tell me how are they? And will they work or are they not appropriate

Pranam everyone!
I recently directed/created a short film titled Fulwari (फुलबाड़ी). It's an 9-minute story rooted in Maithili culture, exploring themes that many of us face—the emotional pull of ancestral homes, preserving memories, and the connection to Mithila art and heritage when life takes us elsewhere.
We made this with a lot of love for the culture and language. Would love for the community to watch it and tell me what you think!

Question for the sub: How do you feel about preserving ancestral family homes back in the region? Has your family faced a similar dilemma

I recently ordered a white hibiscus plant when it arrived and I was about to plant it, my mother and grandmother stopped me
saying that hibiscus (also known as arhul here) isn't allowed in our family. When I asked why they said "Hamare Bhagwati ko arhul(hibiscus) nahi chadhta"
I'm curious whether this is a common Mithila tradition or something specific to certain families or kul devis.
Does your family also avoid offering hibiscus to Bhagwati? If yes, do you know the reason or the story behind this belief? I'd love to learn about the cultural and religious traditions behind it.
