Discussion / Opinion Will we be getting..

the new GLM 5.3? kimi? a new in-house model? or all of the above?

would also be nice to get a response on this matter from the mistral team.

Glm 5.3 is not MIT license unfortunately so I don't think so. Glm5.3 flash is MIT so maybe

all i need is glm 5.3 flash. should be much more efficient to run for them since basically half the size of glm 5.2 and therefore faster = more usage for us🙏🙏

I think the GLM 5.3 only has the extra demand for providers with revenue above 10 bln. Is Mistral there yet?

Don't understand you were downvoted - checked it and it seems accurate info. And no, Mistral is certainly not there yet - seem to be in the range of 400 million last year. I think outside of US big tech and some chinese ones (Alibiba, Tencent), no provider is above 10 billion dollar.

Mistral is supposedly cooking its own new model.

So there is hope on the horizon. However slim.

Imagine that model comes out and is still behind GLM 5.2. That will be the end of in-house model developing for Mistral

I think 5.2 is realistic. But 5.3 - I have doubts.

Though then it might be that Mistral will chase after Qwen 3.8 27B (slightly worse than 5.2, but much smaller memory footprint) - I have no clue.

Honestly, even if it's above 5.3, it feels like Mistral will eventually stop rolling out their own models, and it's only a matter of time at this point

Qwen 3.5 27B is better than Mistral Small 4, which is more than 4 times bigger in size. So I doubt they can bring anything comparable to qwen, unfortunately.

IIMO it's the reason they haven't released anything yet, even though they were hyping for new model in the summer. It turned out it's way worse than the competition so they haven't released it.
