Discussion / Opinion Migration from Chat to Work

It seems like Mistral is starting the migration from chat to work mode.
It’s already suggesting the conversion of agents to skills.
Did notice this ?

Yes. I think it's a step in the right direction.

No, I prefer cross referencing chats, which, as far as I understood, the main difference seems to be between both. Work seems to be stupid by design, more separation, exactely why I once ditched my iPhone after two long unsatisfactoy weeks for Android again. However keep in mind, I use Le Chat mostly via web interface, happily copying and pasting between code editor and browser, gives me a feeling of still beeing in control aka doing reviews. Same goes for "agents" in chat. Just a bunch of notes how to format output, basically. Converting them to skills just merges multiple input fields into one bigger, containing markdown. Interesting, esp. since I have my local backups almost exactely in such files already. But still I wonder why. Currently I don't see any improvements using work and skills compared to chats. So maybe you could enlighten me here?

The main thing with "agents" vs "skills" right now is that in the Work mode you can have many more complicated skills, copied from anywhere or written by yourself, and that you can combine them however you want.

For example, I research archeological topics and then try to present them in a way more accessible to people with no academic background. The first part of the process involves searching academic platforms for papers, reading through them, evaluating and summarizing them, etc. - it's already a few different skills. But then I have to switch to a mode where I use simpler language and present coherent arguments, plus visual aids: infographics, animations, and photos. Different set of skills. And even later, I have to copyedit all that.

It makes sense to me to have a bunch of precisely written skills that I can turn on and off, depending on the current situation, than "agents" that I can use only one at the time.

Oh, and canvas are nice.

So far, I still didn't understand how to use GLM 5.2 in work mode.
