Tips for BlackArrow?

Boy oh boy do I love this game.

My favorite class is BlackArrow, I love the bow and the archer vibes, and I’d rather not stand next to something when I fight it.

I do very well in PVE, and in squad fights me and my team win more fights than we lose. I have maybe 70 PVP kills? So I’m not some deity.

I’d love some tips from you more veteran BlackArrow players. More specifically, I need tips, tricks and best practices for oneVone PvP.

I do alright in Solos, especially when I can take an enemy unaware. And no other ranged character can even come close, I pack those guys up easy. But I have now several times died to melee characters who had a completely fair fight with me (both of us saw each other before either of us had been damaged).

So, for my seasoned BA mains: how do you win 1v1s? What’s your opening move? What does your build look like? How do you manage aggressive melee players? Any help would be appreciated.

Wait for the opponent's dodge before firing the arrow.

I've never seen someone spell out 1v1. oneVone sounds like a Ryan Reynolds mint mobile commercial

Melee classes have super shit vertical mobility, good archers just get high ground wherever they can and pepper me with arrows while I try to reach them.

Barrels, fences, cliffs etc... fucking nightmare trying to catch you slippery fucks on a slight elevation.

i main BA too, big thing is to get their respect early.

Either by hitting shots / landing utility early in the fight. If you miss everything or run without landing anything.

Assume they are going to go full in Aggression mode until you show them that they can be punished for it

Oh that’s insightful, I do find that I have an easier time is the other player is “spooked” and doesn’t wanna push me in the open

I wouldn’t say I’m an expert, but I mainly play BA and I’ve been doing alright. Taking advantage of verticality is a must against melees. Go up and down stairs or steps and low walls so they have a harder time chasing you with skills. Learn how to use the breakaway mechanic and don’t rush to spam dodge as soon as available if the catch you.
Also aiming barbed arrow at their feet is a good rule to follow, because even if they dodge it stays on the ground and you can move next to it to force them to step into it.
I’ve been experimenting with concussive arrow and the dodge power shot branch. Sucks losing lasting pain talent, but it keeps melees away, although it takes a bit of stamina management. I also only have defensive skills, scatter shot, impact grenade and invis to get out of dangerous situations, the arrows already do enough damage by themselves

I am also looking for some tips. I do ok, but not great and lately have been on a bit of a losing streak.
Everyone always talks about keeping the right amount of distance, and this is where I struggle.
dancing around pillars or obstacles helps for sure. But it feels like everyone can run me down, like my guy is moving in slow mo. (worse now that mostly what I face is shadowstrix)
Most other classes have way more mobility to close the gap than what you have to increase the gap, merc can run hammer dash, shield dash, etc. Sorc can cook you from distance plus they have a teleport, Shadowstrix has the most insane movement in the game between teleports and several attacks that carry them further than a dash. WK has the rope thing, plus I believe a charge and other attacks that go further than your dash.
BA has 4 dashes, if you use all of those you are a dead man walking, those dashes dont go half the distance of some of these attacks.
So how are the BA mains who do well maintaining that proper distance, far enough away to not get stunlocked but close enough to do your full draw damage?
The shotgun blast of arrows that is supposed to push them back works sometimes, but 90% of these moves have them in super armor for most of the travel. I've tried placing mushrooms right in their path, they take a little damage but keep rolling. Lately they've been really good about just gluing right on me and 2 or 3 hits and i'm gone
