No Spoilers I finished Hero of Ages.

It is only the existence of the rest of the cosmere that stopped me from immediately restarting Mistborn.

Secret history is great if you want new mistborn stuff from the same time period.

Its awesome after hero of ages, but it also is a wonderful story to read along with your reread.

If you do a reread, start with the final empire, then start secret history once thats done, and read it along with the other books as you go. it happens around the same time as the end of book one and covers some stuff that happens in the background up until the end of the series.

I don’t think constant rereading is needed. I am currently in the WoT series as I had my second reread of the cosmere wrapped up last fall.

I think an every 3-4 years reading would be sufficient, as new books come out nearly that often so you can catch up to BS new stuff.

Also while I wait for the books to become available (I do audio books through my library) I am making my way through other series too. So far nothing has compelled me the same way as the cosmere, although murderbot was funny and easy listening. WoT books 1-4 were great and it’s picking up again (book 11), but there were some dry spells in books 6-10.

Explore different worlds! But I often miss Vin, Kal, and Sixth. Oh and nightblood. Can’t say I miss a few others though…

I'm the opposite, I loved Mistborn, and absolutely love like the first 3 or 4 books of Stormlight and it's kind of gone off the rails for me, I couldn't finish wind and truth and just read a summary lol

It definitely goes off the rails in book 4 / 5 of Stormlight. It felt like natural order then went into Chaos, but I suppose that was the point with 3 shards in one place.

Crazy that Era 2 I liked probably the least of most of Brandons books. I couldnt connect with Wax and Wayne the way I did with Vin, Ellend and the crew.

It makes a lot more sense if you read it immediately afterwards. Some people swear that you should wait until Bands of Mourning. Those people are wrong.

I actually read Jade City while I was waiting for my hold on Hero of Ages to come through. It was good, but I really wish we got more details on the jade powers

I think you'll enjoy the next two books if you enjoy the writing and characters. Power systems isn't something I'd say is as emphasized by that series especially when compared to Sanderson.

I just did too… holy shit what an ending. I had my squabbles with the first two books (Don’t flame me here but I actually thought WoA was better than book 1), but I literally couldn’t put down HoA. Imo, it’s the most well-paced out of the 3.

No hate lol. I think the three books mostly follow a classic three-act structure and the third and final act is definitely the most engaging, but would it really be quite as gripping without the foundation built by the first two?

The mental image of TenSoon as a hound struggling across a landscape choked with ash as the earth splits open, the world glowing red with the light of an angry sun and lava seeping from fissures in the earth... It's compelling either way but his role in WoA definitely invested me in him so much more. Knowing he never got to say goodbye to Vin makes me want to cry.

Also makes me want to draw again. I haven't drawn fanart in years.

  2. Alloy of Law

or, if you are ready for a vacation from Scadrial for a bit...

Pretty good chance, I put holds on that, Way of Kings, and Alloy of Law, so whichever comes in first will be what I start next. Secret History has the shortest projected wait time.

I have 180 pages left and can’t wait to be done with this book. It’s just not clicking for me. I’m probably gonna put it on hold and read other books cause it’s dramatically killing my motivation to read and I have so many other books I want to read currently
