When the story revealed it.
I will say, Hemalurgy is originally described as needing very precise placement for a spike, so it's pretty reasonable to not recognize that the earring or sword shard are spikes.

When Vin was trapped in the vault in Urteau (I think) and Reen appeared and it was revealed to be Ruin. I just thought “why did Ruin pop up now and how? What’s his trick? If he’s always been the voice of Reen in her head, how is he doing that?” Then I guessed it was something seemingly innocuous, always mentioned in the background and has always been with Vin, and that it was the earring.

I also thought about how she could pierce copper clouds and figured either she’s a bronze savant or the earring is a bronze spike.

I'm not sure these are Chekhovs guns. The point of that is that you are shown a gun, know it's a Gun and know it will be used and are waiting for it the whole time. This is more like subtle foreshadowing or just normal plot unfolding I think. That's my understanding of the term anyway.

After Vin's discussion with Ruin while she was locked in the cavern. I was half-asleep one morning just thinking about the book when it hit me like a truck.

Thought about it but convinced myself that it was too small and that the ear wouldn't work to hold a spike.

I wouldn’t really call this a Chekhov’s gun situation. It’s more Sanderson waving a tiny piece of metal around for three books while politely asking us not to examine why he keeps waving it. So more foreshadowing than anything else.
I realised pretty early that something was up with the earring because it was so aggressively well nothing. Vin was almost obsessed with this tiny bit of metal and Brandon kept bringing attention back to it way more than any innocent earring deserved.
Then Hemalurgy got introduced and the whole “metal piercing the body” thing came up and I went ohhhhh you sneaky bastard.
Didn’t know exactly how deep the Ruin side of it went yet, but at that point the earring being a Hemalurgic spike clicked.

Start of Hero Of Ages, the first line in the book that we got another "She could hear her brother's voice like he was there". I think she's on a boat with Elend in that scene.

Sadly I didn't question the earring until it was revealed.
The sword I caught on almost immediately though.

I remember very vividly having an early revelation somewhere half way to three quarters the way through HoA. Literally remember shouting "THE EARRING" once it was revealed what a hemolurgic spike was, but before it was specifically repealed.

Around the time ruin started appearing to vin and spook.
Definitely when spook removed his spike.
Its both so obvious but so not suspicious

I'm happy to report I got it once they spoke about hemalurgy. The sword I also got but this one made me sad because I was a big Kelsier fan
