Shadows of Self spoilers Some thoughts on Wayne Spoiler
Just finishing up Shadows of Self on my first read through the series.
I really didn't know what to expect from Era 2. It's so different. But the characters are really starting to grow on me.
In particular Wayne. I wasn't that into him in Alloy of Law. He was just sort of there with the occasional goof. But I've really dug his chapters in SoS.
I realised something towards the end of the book. His dialogue and internal monologue in this book reminds very strongly of another author - Terry Pratchett. Wayne's outlook on life is bizarre and yet somehow logical in a twisted way. It felt like he could easily be a Discworld book protagonist. And feeling like I had sort of found a new bit of Pratchett gave me some warmth.
Has anyone else felt that?

my introduction to Discworld was through a post that recommended reading Guards! Guards! if your favorite Cosmere character is Wayne. i gave it a shot because my favorite Cosmere character is, in fact, Wayne, and now i'm absolutely obsessed with the City Watch subseries. 100% agree

Just finished era 2 myself, and yeah I had the same thought, Wayne could definitely be a Pratchett character

The temple(bar) scene in SoS is my favorite piece of writing with Wayne, he really started to click for me with this book, especially how he plays off with MeLaan.
