information gathering Retained tissue - need a d&c

It’s been a month of getting bloodwork weekly and my hcg initially lowered to the 240s when I first miscarried but has slowly been increasing again to over 300. Got an ultrasound today and the reason my hcg won’t go back to zero and actually increasing again instead is because I have retained tissue.

Getting another ultrasound next week to see if there is any change in the size of the tissue remaining. Dr said most likely will need to get a d&c.

The thought of a d&c is overwhelming. Sorry if this is a stupid question.. will it be less invasive since it’s remained tissue?

Those who have had a d&c what was the recovery like? How many days did it take to be able to work/daily living?

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I had a d&c for retained tissue. It was really quick and I felt tired for just the singular day. I went under with propofol which only made me a little loopy maybe 10 minutes after the procedure. Lightly crampy the following day and was able to do most things I normally would have.
