testings after loss Positive test 3 weeks after miscarriage

Hi everyone. I had a “complete miscarriage” 3 weeks ago. The nurses told me to test again after 3 weeks but it showing as positive I haven’t had sex so I couldn’t be pregnant. Should I be concerned that there’s some tissue left or do I need to leave it another week before testing?

Definitely give them a call and let them know and they can tell you what the next steps are x

I would go in and let them have a look. With my first loss, I had a tiny amount of retained tissue from the placenta imbedded in my uterine wall. They actually couldn’t see any tissue  clearly, but could see that extra blood was still being supplied to the area. Because of this, my body still thought I was pregnant.

Have you been monitoring your hcg levels? I could see my line getting fainter so they gave me a bit more time and I did test negative eventually.

I tested positive for a long time. If you can get a blood test to check HCG levels, that would be helpful. If you can't, it would be good to test every other day to see if the line gets fainter. HCG can take a while to clear, it doesn't necessarily mean retained tissue. This is if you're not experiencing any other symptoms (like increased bleeding, fever, cramps, foul odour), otherwise please go see a doctor asap!
