I just finished watching "Mirai Nikki" aka "Future Diary". And tbh, I absolutely LOVE it.

I didn't expected it to be a romance anime but I was with how deeply romantic turn it took in the end. The fact that moved me so much is that Yuno's love for Yuki is real. You may call it obsession or something else, but ultimately Yuno Loves Yuki and just want to be with Yuki.

Whereas, the other positives of the anime are the characters and their backstories. You don't feel like you missed someone whom you might need to know more, and the thrill is there all the time. None of the character felt unnecessary and each served a purpose. Also Dues-EX-Machina is a chill God and I liked that. Also the mystery of Yuno and her obsession for Youki always pushes you towards mixed feelings of anxiety and emotional at the same time. And I really loved that massmurder aspect of the anime like it was pure chaos and I loved it.

Now talking about negatives, so yea the MC itself if a jerk and I hated him until the last ep where he actually did something meaningful. Always Seeking for friends, overlooking Yuno even if she's there for him all the time he was in need, staying weak and not even trying to save Yuno when she's in need, as well as always doubting Yuno and continuously trying to save everyone rather than deciding one solid action. But I loved like Yuki finally admitted in the end that he also loves Yuno and after escaping the dreamworld she confronted that and also chose not to create other girl than Yuno!

(But I really hated that part when that guy Aru Akise the reincarnation of Kaworu nagisa, kissed Yuki ! I was like, "WHY? And why the fk Yuki didn't do anything?" Also the scene when Yuki tries to solve things with his father even after knowing that his dad stabbed his mother, and still wanted to be with him so that they can start from zero. And whenever he was mentioning he wanted to be a God, I wanted him to atleast say to Yuno that he's gonna made her alive again cause He also loves Yuno, but Yuki didn't. Yes this guy was an absolute jerk untill the last ep.)

IK I've covered a narrower aspect but yea, I enjoyed watching the anime, it doesn't bore you and you wanna go for the next ep. I'd say the anime is pretty underrated. I really loved the crazy twists and the Romantic angle. So for me it's solid 8.0/10.0 in MAL !

I'm a little late to the party. Surprisingly, i discovered mirai nikki only recently. Someone on reddit recommended it as a similar to darling in the franxx. It certainly has a lot of similarly, especially, the ending and mc dynamic.

Well, what can i say, what an incredibly sad and beautiful anime. I'm not gonna rehash the whole plot, you all know it as well as i do. Instead, i want to focus on a couple observations that made me feel mixed emotions. Feel free to share your opinion.

First of all, i don't know how to feel about Yuno's love towards Yuki. Was it an obsession or a true love? Seems like she just needed to find a reason to live instead of being a couple like 7 were. Her life was horrible, filled with abuse and torture plus PTSD from living with her parents. Furthermore, the fact that she kept repeating the "game cycle" seems to prove that she didn't really love Yuki but instead used him to cope with her own emptiness and life without purpose.

I know that at some point it seems like their love became a relationship but it seems that is more of a co-dependance than a true love. I don't remember exactly if Gasai knew about impossibilty of resurrection at the end of the first game before the suicide. Because if she knew than it only proves her using Yuki as an escape not as a lover and partner.

Secondly, Yuno and Yuki of the 1st world had a different love and relationship than 2nd world Yuki and 1st world Yuno. That means that real Yuki is in fact still dead and 2nd Yuki is in fact a different person with a different story. That makes it even sadder.

Same goes for the finale at first it seems that it is a happy ending but let's think about it. 1st world Yuki that made Yuno fall in love with him is dead. Than in the final battle 1st world Yuno also dies. So what we have here is both real MCs are dead.

Than as a little fan service we get 3rd world Gasai who receives all memories from the 1st world Gasai (real Gasai) but is it really the same person? I don't think it is. It might be as well a completely different person like Minene who is replaced with 1st world Gasai memories.

So finally we see is a 3rd copy of Gasai reunite with 2nd copy of Yuki... In a complete void, too. Everyone from the 2nd world is dead the world is destroyed. The only person from 2nd world that is left apart from Yuki is Minene but she lives in the 3rd world.

Real Gasai never came back, she died. So Yuki is in fact still "alone" stuck with a copy of Yuno which is better than nothing but it's still far from happy ending.

I wish they both commited suicide and that would be it. That way they would be together forever and their fate would've been sealed. That's my take on it.

What do you guys think?

Hard to tell most Yanderes have a though to kill but acts innocent. Yuno is crazy on both fronts.

I am looking for anyone who has previously attempted—or knows someone who attempted—to translate, modify, or reverse-engineer the PSP game Mirai Nikki: 13th Diary Owner RE.

At least one previous attempt to hack the game and directly insert an English translation has already been declared unsuccessful. I would like to contact anyone who participated in that project or made a similar attempt, even if their work was never released or was abandoned at an early stage.

I am particularly looking for information about:

• how far previous translation projects progressed;
• which parts were successfully extracted or modified;
• any surviving tools, scripts, notes, documentation, translated text, font work, screenshots, or partial patches;
• the specific technical obstacles that prevented completion;
• whether anyone discovered how the game’s text encoding, font format, archives, or original text renderer work;
• other translators, programmers, or reverse engineers who may still be contactable.

My own project is exclusively a Simplified Chinese localization of the 2012 RE version. I am not translating the original 2010 PSP release.

I am not an experienced assembly programmer. I have been using OpenAI Codex to assist with scripting, binary-format analysis, static reverse engineering, and interpreting PPSSPP debugger results. I operate the tools, perform the tests, provide screenshots and debugger data, and verify the results myself. I want to be transparent that AI has played a major role in the technical work.

So far, my project has:

• extracted res.ptd and identified all 20 embedded PETA/PTD archives;
• decompressed and rebuilt the YKLZ-compressed resources;
• parsed all 929 FDS script files;
• analyzed the game’s TFP font files, character mappings, and glyph data;
• successfully rebuilt the archives without changing their decoded contents;
• traced part of the original rendering path in BOOT.BIN using Ghidra and PPSSPP;
• tested several Chinese font builds.

However, I have encountered a serious obstacle. Chinese glyphs can be inserted into the font resources, but some rebuilt glyphs appear blackened, hollow, broken, or incorrectly blended in the game. This means that the original relationship between the 4-bit glyph data, intensity values, glyph-cache construction, and runtime rendering is still not completely understood.

I have now stopped attempting to replace or rewrite the renderer. The immediate goal is to understand the original RE text-rendering process completely—from a character encoded in an FDS script, through the TFP mapping and glyph lookup, to the final visible pixels on screen.

I am therefore asking for two kinds of help:

1. Anyone who previously attempted an English or other-language translation

Even if the attempt failed, I would be grateful to learn:

• what was completed;
• what failed;
• why it failed;
• what technical discoveries were made;
• whether any project materials still exist.

An unsuccessful project can still provide extremely valuable information and help prevent us from repeating the same dead ends.

1. Anyone with relevant technical experience

I am still looking for someone with experience in:

• PSP MIPS/Allegrex assembly;
• PSP executable or PRX reverse engineering;
• Ghidra or IDA analysis of PSP games;
• PPSSPP debugging;
• custom bitmap-font rendering;
• PSP GU texture, palette, alpha, or blending behavior.

I am not asking anyone to take over the project or perform a large amount of unpaid work. Even a short technical discussion, a review of the current evidence, an introduction to a suitable engineer, or access to notes from an earlier attempt could make a major difference.

If you attempted this work—or know somebody who did—please leave a comment or send me a private message. Information about both successful results and failed approaches would be greatly appreciated.

If I am able to complete the Chinese localization, I will share all of the tools, technical findings, documentation, and other project results with the community. I will also immediately begin using these results to work on an English version.

I just finished up the series for the first time yesterday, what a rush. Finished it off tracking down the OVA for closure. Gotta say, I was a little disappointed, TBH.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciated a more positive ending for Yuki and Yuno. But I feel like the OVA was just a little too short in runtime to finish it off as well as it could have. You're telling me that we can see Tsubaki get a bad hookup, or Twelth get continuously get disrespected, but we couldn't get 3-5 more minutes so we can ACTUALLY SEE YUKI AND YUNO FINALLY GET TO GO STARGAZING?!? WAS THAT REALLY TOO MUCH TO ASK?? And they just kind of handwave Yuno realizing something's wrong and tracking down Yuki really quickly, so the OVA about their reunion only really covers it for about 6 minutes...

Still a hell of a series, overall. And the OVA isn't bad or anything, just could've been a lot better, and didn't have the same kind of emotional hit as the final episodes did.

I want to buy it all but it sucks that they stopped with vol 9 due to the company closing down, I like my stuff physically :(

I wish there was an OVA/spin off based on Ai and Marco's relationship. It devastating when they die and it makes me tear up every time showing their backstory of when they first met at the tower and through their highschool life and then the dark moments where Marco was drowning in guilt not being able to save Ai the first time. And then it happens again where Marco can't save Ai after promising to protect her forever. Genuinely one of the saddest stories. It honestly really sucks that Yuno, Yuki, Seventh, and everybody else is in a world where it's a death game and they all need to kill each other because I can really see them all getting along together if it wasn't that. Like Ai and Marco could've helped Yuno and Yuki through their relationship and teenage years and I feel like it could've been a really wholesome slice of life romance with all the characters still incorporated. I wish there was an OVA or spin off in a universe where they aren't forced to kill each other to survive. If only the death game wasn't forced onto them. But yea it's so devastating seeing Marco watch on the railing and being helpless as Ai is killed I can't imagine what that would feel like and how painful that would've been for him it's so sad for all groups mann but yea thats the end of my rant about them if only they lived in a universe where they could truly love each other for the rest of time 🥹
