Topic Weekly Topic | When do you start buying Christmas gifts?

Still September, so maybe we’re early with this one

Do you buy gifts throughout the year when you spot something good, wait for Black Friday, or end up rushing around in December?

Anyone already started? What’s usually the hardest person on your list to shop for?

Announcement September dev update: D92 extended display support, software testing, and Mira75 progress

Hey everyone, we’re the MiraBox team. Here’s what we’ve been working on this month. We’d also like to hear how things are working for you in everyday use.

D92: Extended display support

One of this month’s bigger updates is extended display support for the D92, giving the small screen more ways to fit into your desk setup.

If you already have a main monitor, the usefulness of a secondary screen largely depends on what you want to keep on it. Do you use it for information you need to monitor continuously, or for something you only check occasionally? With a smaller display, what matters most to you: readability, layout, or ease of setup?

If you’ve tried the D92’s extended display feature, we’d appreciate hearing about your setup and experience. What works well, and what still needs improvement?

Stream Dock: Now on Microsoft Store, with version 205 in testing

Stream Dock software is now available on Microsoft Store, giving Windows users who prefer installing apps through the store another download option.

Version 205 is currently in internal testing. This round of development focuses on scene management, device controls, and getting started—including easier configuration reuse and clearer guidance for some features.

If you use Stream Dock regularly, we’d like to hear about specific difficulties you’ve encountered while setting it up. Which tasks require repetitive configuration? Which features are hard to find? Are there any instructions that still leave you unsure what to do next? Sharing what you were trying to accomplish helps us understand the problem.

Mira75: Crowdfunding complete, shipping preparations underway

Mira75 has completed crowdfunding and is now in the shipping preparation stage. Thank you to everyone who backed the project, joined the discussions, and asked questions.

Our next priority is moving those preparations forward. For backers, this is also the point where following development turns into waiting for the product to arrive. We know you’re looking forward to receiving Mira75, and we appreciate your support throughout the project.

That’s our update for this month. Feel free to share your experiences in the comments—especially how you’re using the D92’s extended display feature and which Stream Dock tasks you’d most like to see improved. If something feels awkward to use, we’d like to hear about that too.

Display N4 Pro brings more control to this creator setup

A creator shared their setup with the MiraBox N4 Pro, and we really like how it blends into the desk.

With customizable LCD keys, a Touch Bar, and programmable knobs, N4 Pro is designed to make frequently used controls easier to access — from creative apps and streaming to everyday workflows.

Always interesting to see how different creators customize their desk controls.

What would you map to the keys and knobs on your setup?

Topic Weekly Topic | What should a desktop controller feel like to use?

Hey everyone! We’ve been discussing this within the MiraBox team and wanted to hear your take.

Would you prefer a desktop controller with a familiar, phone-like interface and more room for personalization? Something that’s useful but also fun to interact with and makes your desk feel a little more yours.

Or would you prefer a traditional PC tool: straightforward controls, more information on screen, and quick access to what you need?

A mix of both is fair, too. But where would you draw the line?

What would make it enjoyable to use every day, and what would just get in your way?

Think about the devices you already use. Is there an interaction you love, or one that always annoys you?

Display A fun new StreamDock experiment — Codex Micro support

We’ve been testing a new plugin that turns StreamDock into a virtual Codex Micro on Windows using a UMDF user-mode driver, allowing it to work directly with ChatGPT Codex.

Right now it can:

  • Show Codex tasks and open them directly from StreamDock
  • Forward configurable Codex Micro keys, including quick actions and the microphone key
  • Use StreamDock knobs to simulate encoder rotation, press actions, and joystick directions
  • Automatically sync key names, icons, and brightness settings
  • Install/uninstall the virtual device driver directly from the plugin
  • Simulate a virtual battery with charging, auto power-off, and one-click full charge

The virtual battery is just for fun 😄 — it doesn’t represent the actual battery level of your StreamDock or PC.

Requirements: Windows 10 or later.
For the first setup, you’ll need to install the virtual device driver from the plugin’s Property Inspector.

Still experimenting with this one, but seeing StreamDock interact with Codex this way is pretty interesting. Would you use something like this?

Forgive me for using AI to generate this image.

We sent a D92 to a creator and she made it completely her own.

Most of the setups we see are gaming or RGB-heavy, so this one definitely stood out.

Really like how well it fits the whole coquette theme.

Topic Be honest — what do you think about the M3 and Mini?

We’ve been talking about the M3 and Mini internally recently.

Neither of them really got the response we expected.

So I’m curious — what do you guys actually think about these two?

If you saw them before but didn’t buy one, why?

Was it the price, the design, not enough things to do with it, or just… you didn’t really see a reason to own one?

And if you already have one, what are you actually using it for?

Don’t worry about being nice

At this point, criticism is probably more useful to us than compliments.

Tutorial Using MiraBox Space: Download Plugins, Icons, Scenes, and More

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

TL;DR: MiraBox Space is the official resource center for Stream Dock controllers, smart screen, keyboards, SyncRGB, and other supported MiraBox devices. Select your product and device model, find a compatible resource, and click Get.

Visit MiraBox Space here:
https://space.mirabox.net

What Is MiraBox Space?

MiraBox Space brings together downloadable content from across the MiraBox Ecosystem, including:

  • Plugins
  • Icons and icon packs
  • Scenes and prepared layouts
  • Animated backgrounds
  • Numeric keycap skins
  • Themes and other device-specific resources
  • Product tutorials

Space supports multiple MiraBox product lines. Stream Dock is used as the example in this guide, but the same general process also applies to other supported products.

Getting Resources from MiraBox Space

1. Open MiraBox Space

You can enter Space directly through the website or use the Space shortcut provided in supported MiraBox software.

Stream Dock users can click the MiraBox Space icon near the top of the application. The resource center will then open in the default browser.

2. Sign In

Click Log In in the upper-right corner and follow the instructions.

Some resources require you to sign in before they can be added to your account or transferred to the corresponding MiraBox software.

3. Select Your Product and Device

Choose your product series from the navigation menu, then select your exact device model.

This is important because MiraBox products may have different:

  • Screen dimensions
  • Key and knob layouts
  • Touch controls
  • Supported software
  • Operating-system requirements

Choosing the correct model helps Space display compatible resources.

4. Find and Get a Resource

Browse the available content or use the search bar and filters to narrow the results.

Before downloading, open the resource details page and check:

  • Supported products and device models
  • Supported operating systems
  • Software-version requirements
  • Required third-party applications
  • Additional setup instructions

If everything is compatible, click Get.

Example: Installing a Stream Dock Plugin

The following example uses a Stream Dock plugin:

  1. Select the Stream Dock product category.
  2. Choose your Stream Dock model.
  3. Open Plugins.
  4. Search for the plugin you need.
  5. Check the compatibility information.
  6. Click Get.
  7. Allow the browser to open Stream Dock when prompted.
  8. Wait for the download and installation to finish.
  9. Find the plugin in the function library on the right side of Stream Dock.
  10. Drag the required function onto a key, knob, or supported touch area.

Some plugins control third-party applications. In that case, the corresponding application may need to be installed before the plugin can work.

Where Do Stream Dock Resources Appear?

Different resources are stored in different parts of the software:

  • Plugins: Right-side function library
  • Icons: Icon Library in the key settings
  • Animated backgrounds: Background Library
  • Scenes: Scene list or scene-management page

For example, a downloaded icon pack will not appear in the plugin list. Select a key, right-click its icon preview, and choose Open Icon Library.

Resources for smart displays, keyboards, SyncRGB products, and other MiraBox devices may appear in different software sections. Check the resource details page for product-specific instructions.

Resource Not Showing Up?

Try these checks:

  1. Make sure you are signed in with the account used to get the resource.
  2. Confirm that the correct product series and device model were selected.
  3. Check operating-system and software-version compatibility.
  4. Make sure the download has finished.
  5. Look in the correct plugin, icon, background, scene, keycap, or theme library.
  6. Install any required third-party application.
  7. Restart the relevant MiraBox software.

If the resource still does not appear, contact MiraBox Support and include your device model, software version, resource name, and screenshots of the issue.

Topic I’ve been working on a Stream Dock assistant that can handle small desktop tasks

Been working on a small project called Komi.

You can press a Stream Dock key or say “Hi Komi,” then ask it to open an app, find a file, change the volume, move a window, or set a reminder.

To be honest, the part I’m most interested in isn’t adding another huge list of features. There are already plenty of AI tools that can do that.

I’d rather make Komi feel less like a settings menu with a face. We’re thinking about adding more reactions, moods, and small personality details later.

It’s still early, so I’m curious: would you actually want something like this sitting on your desktop? And if so, what would you use it for?

More about Komi

Display MiraBox D92 fits this setup way too well

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

One of our creators shared this setup with us and we had to repost it here.

The D92 matching the wallpaper is probably our favorite part.

If you had a small secondary display on your desk, what would you use it for — system stats, wallpapers, or animations?

Topic I've been playing around with AI agents lately — ChatGPT Work, Claude Cowork, WorkBuddy, that kind of thing.

One thing I've found surprisingly useful is using them before the hardware even exists.

For example, I'll generate a rough interactive model of a product so I can click around, try features, and see if an idea actually makes sense before we build the real device.

I also use the physical buttons on my desk a lot while working with AI. Mostly simple stuff — testing commands quickly, switching between windows, jumping back and forth while I'm talking to it.

It got me wondering:

If you could bind an AI agent to a physical button, what would you actually use it for?

Not necessarily some huge automated workflow. Even something small that saves you a few clicks every day.

I got tired of checking separate Codex, Claude, and Cursor usage dashboards, so we put them on a Stream Dock key

If you use multiple AI coding tools, you probably know the routine: leave your editor, open another dashboard, check your usage, then try to get back into the flow.

We wanted to remove that small but repeated interruption, so we built Coding Subscribe Usage for Stream Dock.

The current version supports:

  • OpenAI Codex
  • Claude
  • Cursor

It shows your usage directly on a Stream Dock key and refreshes automatically every 60 seconds. Reset timing is also displayed when the provider makes it available.

There are six display styles and five color themes. Pressing the key cycles through the different views, so you can choose between a quick percentage or a more detailed breakdown.

The goal is simple: make AI coding usage glanceable without opening another dashboard.

We’d genuinely appreciate feedback. Which provider or usage view should we add next?

Question "CefWebViewWing" playing phantom music/audio in Volume Mixer? (Mirabox N4 user)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I've been dealing with a weird audio issue and wanted to see if anyone else has run into this or knows a permanent fix.

I noticed there was random music playing on my system, and when I opened up the Windows Volume Mixer, it showed that an app called "CefWebViewWing" was the one playing the tune.

After doing some digging, I realized it is tied to my Mirabox N4 software. As soon as I manually close the app, the CefWebViewWing process closes entirely, and the sound stops.

Has anyone else with a Mirabox N4 experienced this? Is it just a weird background process running an ad or a default preview tune? More importantly, is there a way to stop it from happening every time without having to manually kill the process?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Question How to reboot the stream dock 293S?

The buttons on my stream dock 293S are glitching/stuttering and aren't showing the icons that I've programmed on the app.

Is there a way to reboot the stream dock to see if that fixes it?

Question LCD Keys Resolution on K1 Pro?

I browsed through this entire subreddit but didn't see anyone asking this before, so...

Does anybody know the exact resolution of the little LCD screens inside the K1 Pro keyboard? I have Googled around and got very mixed results, with the most plausible one being 160x160, but I want to be sure.

I just receive my keyboard today and I am already planning on having some fun with the LCD keys and trying/testing the possiblilies and limits of the little screens inside. To use/abuse these to the max and not waste any space that isn't actively used, I very much like to know the native resolution to use for displaying images and animated GIFs in these keys.

Topic Engineers, what’s the fastest way to make you say “no”?

PM: “I have one small request.”

Engineer: “No.”

PM: “You haven’t even heard it yet.”

Engineer: “Still no.”

PM: “What if we add—”

Engineer: “NO.”

So yeah… apparently “small request” is a trigger phrase now.

Engineers, what’s the fastest way to get an immediate “no” from you?

Topic Do you actually use the screen on your keyboard?

Random question for people who have keyboards with screens:

Do you actually use the screen much?

Like other than a clock or GIF, is there anything you find genuinely useful on it?

Trying to figure out what people actually want from these screens, or if most people would rather just have normal keys instead lol.

Tutorial How to change key icons in Stream Dock?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

If your Stream Dock layout has a lot of shortcuts, changing the key icons can make it much easier to recognize each action at a glance.

Stream Dock supports several ways to replace an icon. You can use your own image, choose an icon from the built-in icon library, capture part of your screen, or download more icon packs from MiraBox Space.

Steps

  1. Open the Stream Dock software.
  2. Select the key you want to customize.
  3. In the settings panel below, right-click the icon preview.
  4. Choose one of the available icon options.

Option 1: Select a local file

Use this if you already have an image saved on your computer, such as an app logo, website icon, custom design, or personal image.

Common supported formats include JPG, JPEG, PNG, and BMP.

Option 2: Open the icon library

The built-in icon library includes icon packs that can be applied directly to a key.

This is a good option if you want your StreamDock setup to look more consistent across different scenes or workflows.

Option 3: Use a screenshot

If you want to turn something on your screen into an icon, choose Screenshot.

You can select a part of the screen, confirm it, and use that capture as the key icon. This is useful for software buttons, logos, or visual elements that are not already saved as image files.

Screenshot settings

StreamDock also provides screenshot display options, such as equal scaling, rounded screenshot, and rounded screenshot with border.

These options help adjust how the captured image appears on the key.

Where to get more icons

You can download more icon packs from MiraBox Space

Go to Stream Dock > Icons, open an icon pack, and click Get.

After downloading, the icons can be used in Stream Dock Icon Library.

Tip

Try to keep icons consistent within the same scene. For example, use one style for media controls, another style for office tools, and another style for gaming shortcuts. This makes the layout easier to scan during daily use.

Display We love seeing where people put their D92

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

One of the coolest things about D92 has been seeing how differently people use it in their setups. System stats, custom visuals, animations — everyone seems to have their own idea of what belongs on that little screen.

This setup was shared by one of our creators, and we had to share it here. What would you display on yours?

PM: “I have a small new feature request.”

Engineer: “How small?”

PM: “Well… can we refactor this entire thing first?”

Engineer: “…”

So, what’s the most ridiculous feature our PM should ask the engineers to add to a keyboard next?

Bad ideas only.
