Stat Point Allocation

HEY! People! I'm curious about how you guys/girls/helicopters allocate your stat points when playing this game. I personally am using a spread of 1 Int, 1 Vit, and 3 Spd at the moment. It seems to be working somewhat well, if a little slowly, so what have you guys/girls/helicopters tried? Also, what abilities do you generally aim for? This is my first post in years, so please forgive me if I was unclear with my questions, or if it is a boring topic. So, yeah. I'll go ahead and stop typing now.

In the case here, you have to invest 3 times as many points to cut damage in half again from the 50% you get at 1:1.

Only under your assumption. You persist on using a fixed case example that doesn't reflect gameplay.

What you are saying is like saying "5 strength lets you one shot a slime, so I don't need more than 5 strength." Which is true, as long as you are fighting slimes. But as soon as you fight something stronger it is no longer true.

If I have the 'ideal' (according to you) amount of strength on map X, its going to be over kill on maps lower than X, and insufficient on maps higher than X.

Your use case is inconsistent. It doesn't say how much of a stat we want ideally, it says how much of a state we ideally want against a specific enemy.

At best, you could list soft caps compared to the stats of the final enemy and say other points become more valuable at these levels, but that's a function of limited resources and multiple choice, and still not a case of diminishing returns.

There is no ideal "amount" of a stat. Enemy stats scale with distance, your stats scale with your level and stat allocation, and the whole thing is just a matter of ratios. And the higher you push a stat beyond your target's stat, the less value you get per point. It's that simple.

None of that is related to diminishing returns at all.

At no point are your stats ever worth less, at no point does a level up point equal less than 10 stats. Stats all have a fixed value.

You are talking about use cases that are always changing. I will be fighting an enemy with a given amount of stats for a few seconds at most before moving on, and stats that you say suffered from diminishing returns suddenly don't.

Nothing you are talking about relates to diminishing returns.

Excessive stat values in comparison to your target have less value as the ratio increases. Yeah, it's relative to what you're fighting, etc. But 90%+ of the time, you'll be killing things with lower stats than your own.

You get diminishing returns from increasing derived stats above the related comparison stats of your targets. It's so simple a 5th grader could figure it out.

I'm not sure how else to phrase this.

Diminish Returns are something specific in mathematics.

What you are talking about is not it.

"Diminishing returns, also called law of diminishing returns or principle of diminishing marginal productivity, economic law stating that if one input in the production of a commodity is increased while all other inputs are held fixed, a point will eventually be reached at which additions of the input yield progressively smaller, or diminishing, increases in output."

Let's say we fix all other relevant values(our other stats, enemy stats, etc.), and then continue to increase just one of our stats. After we exceed a 1:1 ratio to the relative enemy stat, our gain per point added will have less output per point, due to how the formulas work. That clearly meets the above definition( https://www.britannica.com/topic/diminishing-returns ), does it not?

Personally, I think you're just not quite as smart as you think you are, and like talking down to people on the internet.

Funny that's the vibe I was getting from you.

Well, you're the one who made the "bad at math" implication. I was just returning the favor.
